    1. Latest Updates to the Williams Repository and DNA Project Website
    2. Adrian Williams
    3. All, It has been quite awhile since my last message about the latest updates to the Williams Genealogy website (http://williams.genealogy.fm/) and I wanted to let everyone know about the HUGE number of additions that have been made to the site. This one is LOADED with some great stuff, in all, amounting to the addition of almost 25,000 new records to the database. A lot of effort has gone into this update by a number of folks…particularly the folks transcribing the wills and census records…if you have the time, please consider helping out! First and foremost, I have to mention the Willliams Census Project. This is a concerted effort by a number of volunteers to transcribe the entire Federal Census Population Schedules for each and every Williams’ person and family. 1790 has already been completed. Both the 1800 and 1810 census’ have been completed and uploaded to the website with the exception of the 3 states in 1800 (NY, PA and SC) and 4 in 1810 (MD, NY, PA and SC). All of these states are currently in various states of transcription and should be available shortly. And, the 1820 census is also underway. Folks, this is an important and challenging project, the results of which are sure to become one to the most valuable Williams research tools on the planet. We have over 3 million records to transcribe and are off to a heck of a start. We really need additional help to make this legacy happen. Please consider becoming a part of this project. Let me put this in perspective. There are currently only the 12 of us right now to complete just over 3,000,000 transcriptions. All things being equal, each person would need to transcribe 250,000 records. If we transcribe 100 records a day, it would take 2500 days to complete, which is nearly 7 years!!! And 7 years may not be that bad, but also consider that this is transcribing 100 records each and every day for 7 years. So please…consider pitching in to this most worthy of projects. The Williams DNA Project continues to be one of the most active DNA projects in the world…as well as one of the fastest growing With 327 participants and over 50 matched groups, the Williams project is the 5th largest project in the world. We are always looking for more participants...the more participation, the better chance of matching and figuring out our many Williams families. Be sure to check out the website discussion board (called “The Forums”) to keep up to date on all that is happening with the project. Also, we are slowly getting participant GEDCOM’s loaded to the pedigree module! In addition to all of the wonderful census records, I have also added the following new data!! --> A user submitted index of all 891 Williams’ found in the Dawes Rolls -->15,000 records for Williams Deaths in Missouri from 1883 to 1955. --> 208 New Will Transcripts, Abstracts & Scans, nearly all of these have the accompanying document scans as well so that you can see the actual document. A number of folks have spent quite a bit of time transcribing these records. Kudos to them! --> and a large variety of additional information including biographies, court records and more! The next batch of updates to the website will include: --> The next batch of census transcriptions! The transcription project is in full swing and I anticipate the remaining states for 1800 and 1810 to be completed soon! Then, we are on to the 1820. If anyone else out there would be willing to give us a hand, please drop me an email!! --> A new section for cemetery records, including photos of headstones. This is a complex piece that is taking me a bit more time than I’d like to put together, but a good one nonetheless. I also hope to have the documentation upload working so that folks can add their own scans and cemetery record information. --> I am planning on getting the Rev. War Pension Records finished this next time around…they were lost during our server migration and I have reconstructing them. These records are being posted so that all Williams researchers have access to them. If anyone would like to add their documentation to the repository or has any questions, please reply directly to stickamw<at>earthlink.net (replace the <at> with @...getting enough spam as is!) And, as busy as it has been lately, please don’t be offended if it takes me a bit of time to get back in touch with you or post your information. Rest assured, I read all the email that is sent to me and do my best to respond promptly. Kind Regards, Adrian Williams
