The following new message has been added to the General Chit-Chat board under the new topic of Williams genealogy success after 15 years... -------------------------------- I had to tell someone about my recent success researching my Williams line. I am group 49 and we are RARE! We are in hopes that being "rare" will be a big help rather than a hindrance. A year ago I gave up and hired a professional researcher in W.KY. She found a few things, but nothing that added a much needed generation. In November she called to tell me that she had been in the Hopkins Co., KY courthouse and was looking through some court order books that had obviously just been brought up from the basement. In said books, were a court order to my now proven GGGrandmother Mahala Williams listing her children. An unknown sister to my GGrandfather Thomas J. Williams, he and all of his siblings. Also, stating that "Thomas J. Williams, orphan of Benjamin Williams deceased. Would you call that proof positive or what??? Needless to say, after working on Thomas Jefferson Williams for 15 years and having a kindly person find irrefutable proof of another generation was a sign that I must continue my search. After the first of the year, I will post my gedcom file to group 49 and hope that it will inspire some of you to know that perserverence pays. I should tell you all that my Dad Burton F. Williams is a J2 haplotype. Carol Williams Huff
