Two unrelated surnamed males matched my Dad Burton F. Williams(who is a J2Plus haplogroup) 100% on 67 markers. We are, at present, trying to learn more about my Dad's ancestors who possibly went to KY late 1700's-before 1810 from SC. The SC lead came about because these two non-Williams surnamed male researchers knew that their 1700's ancestors were from SC. That is helping us narrow down ancestors of my Benjamin Williams bn KY 1810. So, having these exact match, but, non-Williams surnamed males match our Williams' may turn out to be a very good thing. I was truly hitting the wall relating to research on my Benjamin Williams. Even with such a rare haplotype, Dad has a dozen different surnamed males matching him. Of course, some of them are 2, 3, & 4 genetic markers off. That would indicate generations before surnames were adopted?????? I know the distress, that matching so closely someone with a different surname creates, after watching these two men deal with the news. But, for me, it made it possible for me to narrow down and, hopefully, eliminate two of three clusters of Williams males in Hopkins Co., KY in the early 1800's. I have been working on descendants of these Williams of Hopkins Co., KY, namely Burrel, to dna test. Carol Williams Huff ----- Original Message ---- From: Doris E.
