    2. The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy board under the new topic of Group 9 new members... -------------------------------- Looking to communicate with members of group 9. See posting also under GROUPS. Some, from this group believe that the family line comes through John Williams (b. abt 1650) who married Ann Whitley (b. 1654). Do any of you who are in group 9 know your history back to this point? Of if not, can you contact Gerri Williams (gwilliams167@austin.rr.com) and perhaps we can discuss what you DO KNOW, so that we might begin to build a picture of this family line? Most agree that the family came to VA first, then to NC into the Halifax/Chowan area. At that point, some went to Tennessee and Kentucky, others headed south to GA and AL. Many ended up in Texas. Let's see if we can put this together. THANKS. Gerri

    2. The following new message has been added to the DNA Project - Group Boards board under the new topic of Group 9 new members... -------------------------------- My husband Nick is in group 9. Others there with underlines under their names have comversed and seem to concur that this Williams line extends from John Williams (b. abt 1750) who married Ann Whitley (b. 1654). I have developed this line to some extent, but would love to hear from the rest of you in group 9 who we've not had a chance to communicate with. Perhaps we can see some links that might put the tree together? Contact me if you are in this group and lets see if we can find some common ground. gwilliams167@austin.rr.com

    2. The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy Website board under the new topic of 2 BIG Updates to the Williams Source Documentation Repository... -------------------------------- Y'all, Just wanted to take a moment to let everyone know of a couple of exciting pieces of news! First of all, thanks to the stellar efforts of the transcribers, the 1810 Federal Census is now completely transcribed for all Williams households, including surname variations. This census is available in the documentation repository on the website and is searchable both by name and location. The 1800 census is very close to being completed and the 1820 census is at the halfway point. If anyone has time to donate, PLEASE consider pitching in an helping with this most worthy effort. We still have a very long way to go and we only have a small handful of folks working on this. The other big addition to the repository is the Williams Marriage table. This table holds over 30,000 marriage records for Williams unions across the country from over 20 various states. This data was extracted mostly from state vital records documents, especially the marriage indexes. This table will continuously be added to whenever I come across any new records or receive any from y'all! The next section that I am working on is the cemetery records, including a headstone gallery. This is turning out to be a moderately complex piece of code, so bear with me as I get it working!! As always, Adrian Williams

Thanks Harvey

    3. Would really like to see some DNA testing on a male descendant of John M. Williams. My ancestor, John Williams b. ca 1775 in Duplin County, NC- d. 1837 in Jackson Co. FL had at least two sons , Ira Shine Williams, b. ca 1813 in Bulloch Co. GA, and David Williams, b. ca 1819 in AL, who moved to Smith County, Texas from Jackson Co, FL. David moved in 1854 and Shine(s) moved in 1857-8. I don't have a complete list of John's sons. Other known ones were Andrew Elton, Frederick R. and probably William. Evidence indicates that there was a son named John, but nothing else is known. John Williams was a son of Frederick and Arribecah Goff Williams and Frederick was the son of David Williams who was a son of Garrett Williams who died in Isle of Wight ( now Southampton) Co VA in 1735 ----- Original Message ----- From: <wwwuser@yourhostingaccount.com> To: <williams-dna@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 15, 2006 8:43 PM Subject: [WILLIAMS-DNA] New Topic Posted in the Williams Genealogy Forums! > The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy board under the new topic of John M. 2. The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy Forums, on the General Chit-Chat board under the existing topic of Re: Newbie needs some help... -------------------------------- Hi- A good place to start may be the http://www.genforum.com site...You can post queries on the MASS page and the WILLIAMS page. Give as much detailed information as possible. Though we would like no one has a crystal ball so help those who may try to help you make a connection with mutal Williams researcher on your line. Another place you might try is the http://www.familyhistory.org the lds site... Another site is http://www.gencircles.com You might consider doing a gedcom and posting on http://www.gencircles.com for this helps to network with others who may be searching your same line. Like Adrian stated please do a gedcom for this site. You might check with the historical society in the area where your WILLIAMS lived for a period of time for someone who may be searching the same family may have reposited information with the historical societies. YOu may check the Library of Congress to see if anyone has reposited a book on your lineage. There are many resources for doing genealogy. A final note allied lines and surnames don't forget to look at their sites for they may have information on your lineage or surname... Hope this helps. Gayle
