The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy Forums, on the Group 33 board under the existing topic of Re: Old Names... -------------------------------- Hi there was a Willoughby Williams in Greene County, North Carolina.
I also have a William Williams who seems to be very illusive. He had two older siblings named William Williams who died before he was born. William was born in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales, in 1825. He was present at the death of his mother Ann Morgan and his father David Williams, but after that I can't seem to find him. No marriage, no death. Of course there are a bizillion William Williams to sort through. I haven't seen to many posts on this digest of Williams from Wales. Which is kind of amazing seeing that is probably where the name originated. My Grt Grandfather Thomas, brother to the above Williams came to America around 1855, and lived in Utah. I haven't had a close match with DNA............but I am not giving up.
The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy Forums, on the General Genealogy board under the existing topic of Re: Halifax County, Virginia William Williams and Mary Mastin line... -------------------------------- I've got a William Williams, too. Mine died in 1754 in Prince William County, Virginia. He had two known children, Edward (from whom I descend), b. c. 1738, and Susanna. Edward married Jemimah (probably) Carter there (Dettigen Parish, Stafford County-right across a creek from Prince William County) and moved to the Boonesborough area of Kentucky in 1779. They were members of the Chopawamsic Baptist Church, the Occoquan Baptist Church (both of Virginia) and founding members of the Lulbegrud Baptist Church in what is now Montgomery County, KY. Edward died in 1804 and is buried near Mt. Sterling, KY. Edward and Jemimah had six known children: Daniel, Joshua (probably my ancestor), Penelope, Susannah, Casper and Caleb. There is also a Winifred who is believed to be a seventh child, but that is at this time unproven. Daniel is best known as Elder Daniel Williams and had quite some celebrity in his time as a Baptist preacher in early Kentucky. Both Daniel and his father Edward were active in the Revolutionary War and both (I believe) have DAR files based on pension applications. Daniel has the reputation of having fought at the Battle of Blue Licks, but this has been disproven.
The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy board under the new topic of Britton Williams of Rev. War - tombstone... -------------------------------- Hi All, On a recent trip to Savannah, GA, I came upon the tombstone of Britton Williams of the Rev. War. His stone states he was hung by the "Tories." He is buried in the beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery. If you are descended from this person, please let me know. I took a photo of the tombstone and will be glad to send it via e-mail. Catherine
The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy Forums, on the General Genealogy board under the existing topic of Re: Halifax County, Virginia William Williams and Mary Mastin line... -------------------------------- We have a William Williams born in the 1750's that married Verlinder Jones, daughter of Edward Jones. William Williams was the son of Electious Williams who died 25 Jul 1763 in VA. According to a family note, Electious had a brother Laurence who lived near Mt. Vernon, VA. Unable to connect our William Williams to the William Williams that served during the RW. There were and are so many William Williams. Just wondered if we might be able to share notes that lead to a connection of the Williams lines of the 1770's? Seems like most if not all Williams lines arrived from Wales. Thanks for your entry about William Williams and Mary Mastin of VA. TN Hoyt, grand daughter of Emma Williams 1880-1966 TX.
I just posted my Patrick Williams line, Kit # 84000, on the Williams DNA site. My Williams line was in Mecklenburg Co., NC, 1768-1800; then Union Co., SC, 1800-1820; then Trigg Co., KY, Jackson Co., AL, 1820-1840, then on to Wayne Co., MO by 1848 at Danielsville, MO. They were in Oregon Co., MO in 1860 and on to Barry Co., MO by 1880. One g-g-g-grandfather, John (Major) Williams moved to IL by 1836 (Sangamon Co., IL) and on over to Hancock Co. IL by 1851-1867. They lived at Majorsville, IL until he died in 1867. They are buried in the Majorsville Methodist Church Cem. Hi, my name is Lynda Jacobs Cook. My mother is Reba Jo Williams, born in Quitman, AR. Her cousin Grover did the DNA for me, as all of my uncles have died. I was first exposed to genealogy at a family reunion back in 1995, but didn't actively start exploring it until after I retired in 2000. I had this nice indentured list of family names and dates, but no sources. I started trying to validate the data I had and got hooked. When we retired we sold our business and our home in Gardena, CA and moved 50 miles north to Santa Clarita. It's a nice area with hills around us, but growing much to fast for the infrastructure. Both my husband and I are Rotarians and enjoy doing work with them for both the local and the world community. We have 3 children between us, Mike, Anita and Gerri. All are married and we have 3 grandchildren, 1 boy and 2 girls. We love to travel and have been to over 100 countries. Are getting ready to go to Dubai for a cruise to Rome, through the Suez canal. We really enjoy meeting people in other areas and learning about local customs. I was able to add a generation to my Williams family when James W. Williams matched me with a 24/25. He had bible records that showed my David Williams (married Elizabeth Van Hooser) as the son of a David Williams. We are now trying to find out if her uncle Abraham Van Hooser's wife Mary Williams is of the same line. I suspect that she was the sister of the earliest David, but have not been able to validate this. It is said that her parents were William and Jane Williams of Chester Co., PA. The only William and Jane we've found that are likely suspects are Jane Yarnell Reese, who married (2) a William Williams. This marriage is too late to make her the mother of David and Mary, so if anyone has any info on this line, please let me know. Lynda

Doris, I do not know. My Grandfather was born November 13, 1875. Therefore, he was alive in 1875. But I do not have any record of his death. All I have found was from North Eastern North Carolina. The following new message has been added to the Williams Genealogy Forums, on the Williams Genealogy Website board under the existing topic of Pedigrees are Working Again!!!... -------------------------------- Y'all, I think I have finally identified and fixed the problem that we making it impossible to view the non-TNG pedigrees on the website. I won't get into the details here, but I have tested my changes and it appears that everything is back on the up and up once more! If anyone finds different, please let me know so I can get it fixed!! As always, Adrian

The following new message has been added to the Williams DNA Project board under the new topic of New Project Group Coordinator Found!!... -------------------------------- Y'all, Please join me in applauding Jan Carr for her stepping up and taking on the role of Group Coordinator in our project! In the role, Jan will initially be responsible for working with the groups to 1.) identify group leaders, 2.) develop and maintain group descriptions and pedigrees, 3.) encourage matched group members who are at 12 markers to upgrade and assist in that process and 4.) facilitate discussions on the Forums about the groups and their research in making the connections. I am excited to have her on board to help with this monumental task which will allow me the time to get back to concentrating on the results interpretations and the website. As always, Adrian
