Williams relative has many photos handed down in the family which include a photo of Jane C. Williams and an unidentified couple with the cardboard frame listing Brady's National Photographic Portrait Galleries, 352 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, DC and Broadway and 10th St., New York. Other photos are from Johnson's National Gallery, No. 12 Market Space, Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC. Some are of unidentified civil war soldiers. There is a photo (of John Wilkes Booth (the one we have all seen) with the Brady's Natl. Photo Portrait Galleries on it's frame (souvenier of the day?). Richard Williams (my gr.grandfather, b. abt. 1830 in VA) was married in the District of Columbia to Elicia Drummond and one of his sons was born there. Would like to pursue these photo studios to see if there are any records. Would anyone have any information to help me or advice as to where to begin my research? Boy, does this tell us all to put names on all our photos!!! Thanks, Carol H.
