This is based solely on my seeing names on that petition that later show up (1790 Census or shortly thereafter) in these areas and a couple of land grants from the state of NC and VA in the area that later was designated TN -- identifiable as being grants for land in that area by watercourse names etc. I'd be happy to hear that someone has a more definite description of the area than this.
