    1. [WILLIAMS] Benjamin Williams' Harris connection

    3. I read the Williams and Harris information posted to the list by E. W. Wallace with interest. I am new to the list and have proof of my WILLIAMS line back to my gggrandfather BENJAMIN WILLIAMS who was born ca 1814 in NC (probably in the Granville Co. NC area). He married SARAH (surname unknown) in NC , and their first 4 children: MARTHA, PLUMMER, LATON & WILLIAM were all born in NC. Benjamin was a wagon maker and later moved to TN where my ggrandfather, HARRIS WILLIAMS, was born in 1840. He lived for a while in Christian Co. IL where children MARY, ELISABETH, JOSEPH & ALBERT were born. One close Christian Co. IL neighbor was Silas Harris who I believe was Benjamin's uncle. Living with this Silas Harris was a young man (son?) named Tippo Harris. This unusual given name also is found in the children of Benjamin and Martha Harris Williams. After Benjamin's wife Sarah died in 1854, he is found back in TN where he married his 2nd wife, Nancy Thaxton, in 1855 in Montgomery Co. TN. His family is in the 1860 Cheatham Co. TN census which has 2 more children listed. There is also a HARRIS WILLIAMS , also a wagon maker, and wife Asenath in Montgomery Co. (both born in NC) in the 1850 census and in Cheatham Co. in the 1860 census. This Harris Williams (b ca 1790) was son of Benjamin Williams and Martha Ann "Patsy" Harris I mentioned earlier. Does anyone on the list have the names of the children of HARRIS & ASENATH WILLIAMS? I feel that this couple are likely candidates for the parents of my BENJAMIN WILLIAMS. I know Harris and Asenath had (according to the NC Granville Co. census records) 3 sons and 3 daughters. Help will be greatly appreciated. Joyce Williams Libes
