Dear Friends, When asking a library to do an obit or other look up it is a very nice thing to either send a few dollars with your mailed request or to send a donation after you have received the info. As you know almost all libraries have an operating budget that is pitiful and this little bit goes a long way towards not only good relations but also showing the staff- who are often underpaid or volunteers- that you appreciate the work they have done to help you in your quest for information. These look-ups are often over and above the things that librarians are really in the position to do, like check books in and out, teach computer skills, etc. I have been helped tremendously by librarians and as a volunteer have helped some people break down their brick walls. Don't let the librarians think you don't appreciate their hard work!
