An older brother of my 2nd great grandfather Robert Walker Williams (b.1807) was: John Williams (the one who was married 11-13-1815 to Elizabeth Wooding). John & Robert were two of the 14 children of James Mastin Williams/Wilmoth Walker. A little more on this Williams line: James Mastin Williams [9/22/1763-1/12/1838] born & died in Pittsylvania Co. VA was the son of William Williams and Lucy Terry Williams, m. 11-21-1755 in Halifax Co. VA. Lucy Terry (b. ca. 1737, d. by 7-21-1788 in Pitts. County) was the dau. of Joseph Terry and Judith Crawford. I have not been able to find William Williams' parents yet. A little more on the John Williams/Eliz. Wooding marriage: John was a veteran of the War of 1812 (that may be when he earned the rank of "Col."); John & Elizabeth moved to Louisiana and had a daughter who married into the Madison family. My source on this is a letter in my possession dated October 16, 1933 from Attorney Harry Wooding Jr. of Danville, VA to my great grandfather Judge Martin Williams, then of Pearisburg, Giles County, VA (my home county). Some of the allied names from my 4th great grandfather William Williams' line (throughout 5 generations): ADAMS COLLIE CRAWFORD HURT LEWIS MARTIN (Hughes, Dalton, Graves) MOTLEY NEAL SNIDOW TERRY TOWNES WALKER WISDOM WOODING - - - - - - Maybe something here will help someone else in their Williams research. ~J.
