Census lists for 1840: 1 male 5-10. 1 male 20-30 (John Williams). 1 male 50-60 (John or his wife's father). 1 female under 5. 1 female 20-30 (John's wife). This John Williams is not listed on the 1850 Pickens County, AL census. I would like to locate this family in 1850, but this is very difficult because of the numerous John Williams listed. I suspect they are in either Alabama or moved to Mississippi as many families did in 1850 & 1860. Any guidelines or suggestions you can give me to help narrow down the search would be appreciated.
