Dear Kathleen, Specifically regarding your WILLIAMS family in Quebec and, perhaps, others that may have had WILLIAMS families in Quebec, Canada and/or Nova Scotia in the early 1800s, did any of your WILLIAMS group prior to 1790 immigrate into Maryland, U.S.A.? My maternal 2nd great grandfather, William WILLIAMS, was born abt. 1790 in Maryland, according to my little bit of information, and married a woman named Elizabeth ?/possibly Elizabeth WILLIAMS, born: probably after 1790 who was born in Ohio. One of them would have been of French and Indian ancestry or, possibly, one was part French and one was part Indian. The name of Otho WILLIAMS was in their family with one of their sons who along with his siblings who include my great grandmother, maternal, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, were born in either Catahoula Parish or Franklin Parish, Louisiana before or about 1840. I don't know precisely when the family moved to or from Maryland into Catahoula Parish. It may have been when William WILLIAMS was a child or as an adult. Nor do I know his parents or siblings name or where he lived before Louisiana. The name Otho WILLIAMS does exist strongly in a Maryland WILLIAMS family line from the 1700s but I have yet to find a connection. My great grandmother, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, married my maternal great grandmother, Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, born: May 13, 1844 in Greene/Pickens County, Alabama, who was the son of Susan CROUCH, born: abt. 1815 in Richmond County, North Carolina, (daughter of Samuel CROUCH, born: abt. 1780 in Richmond County, North Carolina,) and John M. SLAUGHTER, born: abt. 1795 in Blackjack Township, Richmond County, North Carolina, (son of Mary McDONALD and (Reverend) Owen SLAUGHTER, Jr., (son of Mary Elizabeth BOLTON, born: abt. 1741 in Nansemond County, Virginia, and Owen SLAUGHTER, Sr..) Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS and Hudson H. SLAUGHTER were the parents of Louis Hector "Hec" SLAUGHTER, (my maternal grandfather,) born: February 14, 1869,) who was in his late 50s when he married my grandmother who was about 20 years younger than he and she was Mrs. Ethel Rosalea HATTEN WOMACK, (1st husband was Joseph Marion WOMACK, Sr.,) and Louis was 1st married to Mrs. Callie Martha MUNN ADAMS?/KING? and then after Callie's death Louis married 2nd wife, Mary LEE, whose daughter, Mary SLAUGHTER, moved to Canada, according to my understanding. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from ANYONE who may have some idea who the parents of my William WILLIAMS are.
