5/11/02 Hi David: The mystery in our family is my gggrandmother, RUTH HANNA(H) WILLIAMS. Actually I dont even know if that is really her name. Someplace I have seen a name something like Ruhanna or something. Anyway, she gave birth to my ggrandfather, GEORGE CHRISTOPHER BENSON 19 Dec 1846 in Fulton Co IL (very close to Peoria). As far as I know she was not married at this time. She married ROBERT C BENSON on 30 Dec 1851 in Knox Co IL. ROBERT apparently took GEORGE CHRISTOPHER as his own son. RUTH(?) and ROBERT had a large family. I have a reunion picture taken around 1912 (my father is in it.....he is about 2 yrs old) and there are definitely people in it who look like they of Native AMerican descent. And Dad talked about the cousins in Peoria who looked Native American. Do you recognize any of these facts? Or do you have any ideas. Would love to hear from you. Can share much information.
