Yes, that IS possible. (The will of Wilmoth Walker Williams is dated April 1850.) I did come across one of the Shelton connections: James Mastin Wms. Jr.'s brother, William M. Williams had a daughter "Elizabeth A." who married Will H. Shelton 8-17-1829. But here is something you might find of more interest and it certainly opens up the possibility - although not hard documentation - for Martha W. having a sister Elizabeth: I have an old letter in my possession dated Oct. 26, 1933 from a Lessie Madison Garrett in Monroe, LA to a Mrs. Dunn (a descendant of this Williams line). Mrs. Garrett had been to see an old man (Henry Tunstall) who was born in 1855 in Pittsylvania Co. and was a servant of Robert Walker Williams (Mrs. Dunn's grandfather - my 2nd great grandfather). The letter quoted Mr. Tunstall's comments about who he remembered in the family..."Mr. Jim (ref. to James Mastin Wms. Jr.) kept a tavern at the south end of Main St. in Danville and that his daughters were Miss Sara who married Bainman; Miss Alice married Gravely; Miss Virginia married Anderson; Miss Mack married Jim Calloway; *Miss Bettie-single; Mr. Jim-single (ref. to James Mastin Wms. III)." Wasn't the name 'Bettie' sometimes a nickname for 'Elizabeth'? 1860 July- U.S.Census Pittsylvania County Va, (Whitmell Post Office) page 63 lists Robert W. Williams age 53 (my 2nd greatgrandfather) and family. We need to look for James Mastin Williams Jr. & family in the 1860 census! When I get up to the Nat'l Archives again, I will do that but it will be awhile probably. ~Jane
