In 1677 he signed the "Second Grievances of Nansemond County", asking redress for the grievances out of which grew Bacon's Rebellion. He had land grants in Nansemond County, Virginia and Chowan Precinct, North Carolina. The grants in Chowan Precinct began in 1697 and ended in 1714 for a total of 2,855 acres of land. He was a vestryman of the Southwest Parish of Chowan Precinct in 1907. June 17, 1707 he had a dispute with the Meherrin Indians, they attacked him in his house, wounding him but he drove the Indians away. His will, probated in 1717 in Chowan Precinct of the County of Albemarle, North Carolina included children: Anthony Priscilla Daughter (name unknown) Martha Another daughter (name unknown) Elizabeth What is his wife (Mary) maiden name?
