He was enumerated in Dale County, Alabama in 1840 and was married to Nancy (possibly Wood/Woodall) born Georgia. Known siblings: Minor b. 1818; Jane Rebecca b. 1819 - m. Charles Augustus King; Frances b. abt. 1835, never married. Children of Melton and Nancy:: Andrew Jackson Williams b. 1842 William Wesley Williams b. 1843 Margaret M. Williams b. 1848 Charles b. 1849 M. J. born 1855 Melton and Nancy were living in Alabama as follows: Dale County in 1840, Pike County in 1850; Coffee County in 1855; and Butler County in 1860.
