I'd like to make contact with descendants of this Martin Williams. I have only ever seen him in the 1880 census of Gratiot Co, MI. He's the head of the second household below. [1880 census, Washington, Gratiot Co, MI, T9-580, ED 103, p 646B] (12-June) William WILLIAMS Self, M, M, W, 45, farmer, Wales, Wales, Wales Adelin WILLIAMS Wife, F, M, W, 37, NY, NY, NY Albert WILLIAMS Son, M, S, W, 19, laborer, MI, Wales, NY John WILLIAMS Son, M, S, W, 16, laborer, MI, Wales, NY Willie WILLIAMS Son, M, S, W, 13, at school, MI, Wales, NY (next household) ("James M" is crossed out above Martin, who begins page 647.) Martin WILLIAMS Self, M, M, W, 40, farmer, Wales, Wales, Wales Martha WILLIAMS Wife, F, M, W, 38, keeping house, Wales, Wales, Wales Mary WILLIAMS Dau, F, S, W, 13, at school, OH, Wales, Wales Charles WILLIAMS Son, M, S, W, 3, MI, Wales, Wales Joseph WILLIAMS Son, M, S, W, 2 mo, MI, Wales, Wales William Williams is actually my relative here. I know his parents, Timothy and Dorothy, and I know where William was born in Wales, and when he came to the US. I have seen the family in the 1841 census of Wales. Before that is a brick wall. But in 1880, William suddenly moved out of the city of Grand Rapids to become a farmer in Gratiot County, and just happens to end up next to a Williams family, also from Wales. The next two households after these (of PICKETT's) are also relatives of mine, so what about Martin??? I have had no luck finding Martin in the 1900 census, where I might find his immigration date, or in the 1860 or 1870 census of MI or OH. I just think if I could learn more about him, I might find family. Thanks for looking! Chuck
