Another elusive James R. Williams. My gg grandfather, James R. Williams, was supposedly born in 1829 in NC. He married where unknown, to a Nancy Unknown b. in SC. They are found in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN in 1850 and 1860 census. In 1880 they are in Loudon Co. James R. and Nancy had six sons and 2 daughters all born in Knox Co. or the area (Roane Co.) Sons: 1) Joseph R., b. 1846, m. Annie Burchfield; 2) Alexander L., b. 1850, m Malinda Jane Tallent; 3) Henry E., b abt 1852, m Sarah J. (Bell I think); 4) Ishmael S., b. 1856, m. Mary A. May; 5) John M., b. 1858; 6) James, b abt.1863: Daughters: 1) Sarah E., b. 1860; 2) Martha, b. abt. 1866 Alexander L. Williams is my g grandfather. He and Malinda Jane Tallent married in 1870 in Roane Co and migrated to Wichita Falls, TX before 1900, as they are in the 1900 census. They are both buried there. Their children were: 1) John Ishmael m. Florence Mae (Lulu) Johnson in 1900 in Knoxville, TN; My grandparents, came to TX in 1904. 2) Nancy L. (Nannie) m. James R. Smith in 1897 in Knox Co., TN; 3) Sarah Jane m. W. D. Matkis in 1899 in Loudon Co., TN; 4) Dora m. J Newton Capps in 1899 in Knoxville, TN.; 5) Maggie Ollie Evaline m.
