The Augusta Chronicle dated 06 Dec 1826 carries a report of the Principal Keeper of the Pentitentiary authored by Peter J. Williams who held the office for an unknown period of time. My great grandfather, James W. Williams was born in Augusta in 1824. He named one of his sons Peter James Williams. Was James W. Williams a son of the Principal Keeper of the Pentitentiary? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. James
