Does anyone have any ideas on how to find him (possibly a Sheppard Williams)?? He was shipwrecked in War of 1812 also. Lore from husband's father(JHGW, listed below) says progenitors were "Judges & Lawyers". His GGF or GGGF was active until 1911 when died at 116. He was possibly a "Sheppard Williams" We are still in early throes of Williams hunting. John Henry Grady Williams of Aiken, SC county was born "in Bulloch county, GA" in 1895. His father was supposed to be Sheppard N. Williams, who had children: JHG called "Man", "Uncle Son" who may have been a junior, Josephine called "Aunt Daughter" who married a Gordy, Barbara Ella called "Aunt Bootie" who married a SAPP, Mary who married a Rucker. Due to the flux in South GA (and maybe N. FL), we have not yet been able to locate the family on 1900 census. We still look a day or two a month. We figured they must be some kin to the Sheppard Williams es big in Bulloch county from 1820 -1849. Can't find any connections down, because we haven't found Sr. and Jr. in Bulloch county censuses. The 1st one had maternal uncles with the last name Sheppard. I have extensive files on MY lines: Summers of Orangeburg, SC, Moss of Orangeburg, SC, Browns (back to Joseph and to Landgrave Thomas Smith 1&2) of Charleston, SC. Replies welsomed. I haven't posted before because we have found so little. Caroline Williams
