Hi List... Here's a long shot... I've posted bfore with some success thanks to several fine folks out there. I am seeking info on my great grandfather, believed to be James V. Williams b: 1850? d: 1884? in TX (probably in Grimes Co.). Married Sally E. unk b: 1849 d: 1881? in TX (also probably in Grimes Co.). The four children: Ida LouElla Williams b: 1868? James John Williams b: 1871 He had four children: Idell, Bess, Ethel (m. ? Sparks), and "Knotty" Marylee Ada Williams b: March 7, 1875 Francis (later 'Frank') Henry Williams (my gfather) b: Dec 4, 1879, in Plantersville, Grimes Co., TX. d: June 2, 1938, in Temple, Bell Co., TX. Married Julia Essie Walker in Jewett, Leon Co., TX, Nov 10, 1901. Family story says that Sally died first followed by James V. All four children were "adopted by Professor Christian, a single man, and his spinster sister, and whose name they took as they own." I'm wondering if the "spinster sister" could have been a Williams? Perhaps an aunt or a widow (even though 'spinster' implies unmarried)? Anyone out there have a Williams female who suddenly had four children added to her household? In Grimes Co. or Leon Co., TX? Or perhaps a Christian female with this weird tie to Williams? Any help/hints appreciated. Thanks... Ken Christian Elizabethtown, Hardin Co., KY
