In searching the archives for the Williams list, I came across a few messages from Roger Smith erdfest@worldnet.att.net, an address which is no longer valid. The messages concern a David Williams of Westchester County who is one of the 3 men who captured the famous spy of the American Revolution, Major John Andre, who was in cahoots with Benedict Arnold. The reason I am so interested in all of this is: My grandfather always told us that we were related to one of the men who captured Major John Andre and that the names of the captors were on a monument in Tarrytown, NY. I was a child when my grandfather died, but now that I'm an adult & into genealogy, this story fascinates me. I investigated this a bit, and have learned the 3 names on the monument, one of which is David Williams. If someone on this list is connected to that particular David Williams, could you please tell me if you have a connection to one of my Westchester County ancestors from that era, whose surnames are: CONKLIN BROWN CRONK TOMPKINS DUSENBURY Thanks much, Sincerely, Donna Vaughn dkvaughn@nycap.rr.com
