Midway, also spelled Medway in early documents, is named after the Medway River, believed named for its location "midway" between the Ogeechee and Altamaha rivers or the Medway River in England. First called the Midway District of Georgia; in 1759 it was organized as St. John's Parish and later as Liberty County. Unfortunately I do not have the first part of this deed -- This part was on the top part of a deed I copied at the Georgia Archives while researching Hatcher. I prtobably did not see the deed informationjust before my Hatcher information. The above information would apply to this Williams information since it was written in the margins of tjhe Document. Thomas Williams VA?, NC, SC 1740's - 1804 Looking for parents of Thomas Williams. Thomas was first recorded in the Granville County area of NC in the 1760's and was a member of the Tar River Baptist Church. He moved to the Spartanburg County SC area and served in the militia during the Rev War. He married 1st Rebbeca Langston 1739-1789 and 2nd Jane last name unknown. He died before 24 March 1804. He was the son-in-law of John Langston (III) and had numerous dealings with the Langston family in NC and SC. Thomas may have been born in NC or Va. Thomas and Rebecca had 9 Children Langston b 1770 married Ruth McElroy, John b 1777 married Margaret Ann Rogers, Elizabeth b 1778 married James Meadows, Fanny born 1780, Jennet b 1780, Liddy b 1783, Salley b 1786, Soloman b 1788, Benjamin b 1789. Rebbeca died circa 1789 and Thomas married a Jane, she probably bore the two youngest children: Ralph b 1793 and James L b 1798. The eldest son Langston moved to Allen Co, Ky in the 1790's, after Thomas died in 1804 Jane and the all the other children except John joined Langston in Ky. Dr Thomas Williams SC/NC b 1806 d after 1879. Looking for the descendents of Dr Thomas Williams to share family history. Dr Williams was born in Spartanburg Co, SC and lived in Shelby, NC circa 1870 with his wife Parmelia and his 3 sons David Wilkins Williams b 1845, George W. Williams b 1859, and Chesly Williams b 1862. The last record we have of Dr Williams is when he witnessed his brother's will on 2 Feb 1879. Where he is buried and where his family moved to is unknown.
