Looking for descendants of Abner W/U. Williams, who was a private in Company L of the 17th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War. I have located a large framed certificate prepared in 1901 commemorating his service. It was intended as a gift for his wife Mary M. Williams and their children, Mary R. and W. Frank. The certificate is in well-preserved color, with a hand written description of his service record. Harrisburg and Chester County are mentioned. The frame is nciely carved solid wood. The consignment shop near Fort Meade Marlyand wants $450.00 for it, but it's been there a long time and I'm sure they will negotiate a lower price.
