One home he is known to have built is the Whitcomb home in Raton. He went to L.A. to bid on a $50,000 job in that area and was awarded the job. As he was leaving the building and obviously thinking about his good fortune, he stepped off the curb and was struck by a car. As he was getting up, the lady driving the car became disoriented and instead of pushing on the brake, stepped on the accelorator and ran over him. Hospitalized from Oct.25, 1930 to Mar. 17, 1931.
