    1. Re: [WILLIAMS] Meeting our Ancestors

    3. If our ancestors didn't want more, such as we do now, we would not have what we do now. That's why we invented the things we did, that's why we grabbed all the land that we could. For better and worse, that thinking has always been a part of our fabric. Our ancestors generally came here for a better life than what they had. The freedom that we had\have also has a LOT to do with our resilience and ability to overcome, and has been a pervasive part of our personality as well. What we have lost is an general understanding of what hard work means in a physical sense. However, we still have the "there's got to be a better way to do it" mentality that is evidenced in companies like Apple and others. So, I don't know that the American mind-set is any better or worse than it was. It's just more "modern". Additionally, I am heartened to see our country jump to the aid of others in times of disaster. It's also fascinating to see the people of New Orleans seek an understanding of how to rebuild a society from the ground up. As usual, there are a few pioneers who will blaze the trail for the rest to follow. Yeah. . .for all of our problems. . .I'm still quite proud of who we are.
