Hello, Hope you or someone on this site can help me. I also have someone with their middle name Attwood and have found a couple others that do also, do you have any idea where this name comes from? I was told it was either a family name or a place where one of the family line comes from but have been unable to find either in my line and neither has the others. James Attwood Williams ? He is in my family outline at: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mo/county/stlouis/williams/ His father was: John Williams, b. 4 Nov 1737, Hanover Co., VA, d. 1794 Edgefield County, SC. Will probated 14 Oct 1794. Married 1st Mary Atwood. 2nd Anna Maria Gooch (spelled "Gouge" in transcribed will at SC State Archives.) In 1771/2 moved to Dist 96, SC. Settled on Mudlick Creek. Representative to the 1st and 2nd Provincial Congresses (1775-1776). Served as a Colonel in the Continental Army. I am not real sure how the county lines fell in 1790's but I know this family also resided in Laurens County. I have his parents, siblings and lineage back to Wales. This is the same family as mine. Can you share your information on the members that moved to Mississippi ? (Mainly those that were born before 1900). Scott K.
