I have heard every 10 years. I do know when 1920 census came out it was about 10 years before 1930 came out. Hi all, For whatever it's worth, I seem to recall you can request a search by the National Archives for a not-yet-released census record (i.e. 1940 or later), but you must pay a fee and have to provide proof of close relationship to the household of interest. I've never done this myself, but if someone really wants to check out the 1940 or a later census, this might be a possibility.
