Is anyone out there researching Williams from Jefferson County Alabama and/or Tuscaloosa County, Alabama areas I am trying to find a husband for my Elizabeth Vines born Dec 1840 in Tuscaloosa Co., Al, d/o Jackson and Cynthia Vines. This Vines line is from the Jefferson and Tuscaloosa County areas of Alabama. Elizabeth and her unknown husband's first child John Thomas Williams was born in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama in 1861, so I speculate they were married about 1860. Their second son (Henry L.)was born 1868 also in Alabama, but I cannot find any census info at all for 1860, 1870 or 1880 on this family or any marriage record. Elizabeth and her two sons are in Arkansas by at least 1890, she shows up as widowed twice on the 1900 census, name now Elizabeth SAVAGE. Any, any, any piece of info, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Leanna Veazey
Leanna: My Williams line was very close to your Vines between at least post-War of 1812 and 1830, but I have no evidence of connection. There are no Vines or Savages in my records. My line--four brothers (born in the Carolinas)--came into Alabama via Madison County. My gg-grandfather married first in Madison Co. in 1814; following his wife's death, he married again in Greene Co. in 1823, then settled in Pickens Co. until the early 1830s when he stepped across the state line into Noxubee Co., Mississippi. I sure can't rule out a connection, and will keep my eyes open for your Vines and Williams connection as research is ongoing. If you want to view information about my line, yuo can start with my gg-grandfather, Elijah Williams: http://www.relatedlines.com/phpGedView/individual.php?pid=I0474&ged=RelatedLines.ged Thanks, --Hughes Williams http://www.relatedlines.com/ ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Leanna Veazey" <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [WILLIAMS] Jefferson County, Alabama Date: Thu, 3 Nov 2005 21:37:50 -0600 Is anyone out there researching Williams from Jefferson County Alabama and/or Tuscaloosa County, Alabama areas I am trying to find a husband for my Elizabeth Vines born Dec 1840 in Tuscaloosa Co., Al, d/o Jackson and Cynthia Vines. Thank you for your reply and for keeping an eye out. I do know that my grandmother told me that her father once said "his people" came from the Carolina's and eventually settled in Arkansas. ( but then doesn't everyone start in the Carolina's {smile}) Thanks again so much!!!
