Jane Beck did this research. ____________________________________________________________ JOHN WILLIAMS - born in Wales, wife unknown. Was in Isle of Wight, VA by 1640. His son, JOHN WILLIAMS (Jr?) was born 1640, in the Lower Parish, Isle of Wight, VA. He married Elizabeth Ann Whitley in 1671. She was born (1658) also in Isle of Wight. Third generation was their son, WILLIAM WILLIAMS - born 1676, Isle of Wight, and died 12-9-1711 in Albemarle Co., NC. He married Mary Moore, born 1678, died after 1711. 4th Generation - SAMUEL WILLIAMS - born about 1698, Isle of Wight, VA, died 10-21-1753, in Edgecombe Co., NC. Married Elizabeth Alston. 5th Generation - gets murky. Dates seem out of line, and there are several of this clan who had sons named "Dudley Williams", but the better charts all indicate that the father of Dudley was WILLIAM WILLIAMS, who married Catherine Tyre. WILLIAM born about 1736 in Edgecombe Co., and died Sept. 1807 (some say Wake Co., NC, others say Anson). Catherine was the daughter of Thomas Tyre and Catherine Jones. DUDLEY WILLIAMS was one of their many children. He was born about 1770 and died 1815 in Anson County, NC. DUDLEY'S wife was MARY HARRIS (3-5-1771--died after 1840 in Henderson Co., TN.) Mary Harris Williams was the daughter of Sherrod Harris and Hannah Page. (That particular Harris family intermarried a lot with this Williams branch.) Children of DUDLEY & MARY WERE: 1 - Solomon Williams 2 - Dudley Williams (Jr.) - b. about 1805 in Anson County. 3 - Elizabeth Williams - born about 1788, died 6-7-1861 in Henderson Co., TN. She married Elijah Flake. The Flake name is in Dudley's will that you sent me a transcript of, except the transcriber read it as "Plak" or something similar, I believe. 4 - Susannah Williams - 5 - Hannah Williams - 6 - Martha Williams - 7 - Elisa (?)
