Dear Robert, My husband descends from the John Williams that you mentioned to the list who was born in 1762 and married to Marget McCorkle! I need to get out all of our information on this family, but several researchers in the past have speculated that John's father could be named either Patrick or William, but nobody could verify anything. Charles Williams has posted several queries on the genweb website for NC. Do you know where the 1762 John was born? I'm pretty sure Marget came to Mecklenburg Co., NC with her parents and family from PA, but I don't know what date they came. I always wondered if the Williamses and McCorkles traveled south as part of a group from PA. My husband descends from John's and Marget's son John, born in 1791, who married in Union Co., SC after the whole family moved there from NC. This John migrated from SC with Mary, his wife, and son Lemuel Rhodes Williams, who was born in 1814, through Trigg Co.,, KY to IL. They lived in KY long enough for their son Patrick McCorkle Williams to be born in 1817, then went to Sangamon Co., IL where other children were born, finally ending up in Hancock Co., IL, a bit west of SAngamon Co. Which of John's and Marget's children do you descend from? Sally Williams
