I am hoping someone on the list might live close to Luling, TX and may be willing to obtain copies of a book from the Caldwell Co. Gen. & Historical Society. "A genealogical study of Allumbee Williams and siblings 1757-1885" by Joe G. Potter. It took me months and many emails to locate a copy, a Williams researcher was finally able to send me a copy. However, the copy I have is not complete, missing sections for IV. Elizabeth Williams (our line); VIII. Sarah Williams; and IX. Levi A. Williams. Based on the description from Peggy Engledow below, "One section has 90+ pages and the other section has 231 pages". The copy I have is from the "90+ pages", which naturally makes me curious about what might be in the larger section. Joe G. Potter [aka Joseph Gilbert Potter] is now deceased and I have not been able to locate any of his descendants. I live in California, much too far for a visit to the library. Thanks, Sheryl ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is the email response I received: - Hi Sheryl Kay Boyd forwarded your email to me. I'm the Genealogical Records Secretary of the Caldwell Co. Gen. & Historical Society. I checked the book you are asking about. One section has 90+ pages and the other section has 231 pages. It was compiled in 1985 by Joe G. Potter of Moody, Texas. There is no index in the book so it is impossible to tell you much about the book. Do you live close enough to Luling to come to the library and look at it yourself? Don't know quite how to help you with this, without knowing more about what you need Peggy Engledow
Hi Sheryl, If you can't find someone living near Luling, TX, you might write directly to the library in Luling (or the next largest town near there). If they won't make that many copies, you might try an inter-library loan. Another idea is to write to the Library of Congress. They collect many, many books and I've found some I've looked for there. One more idea would be the DAR. They have an excellent library and of course, their focus is genealogy. They have made copies for me in the past. I live in Mexico City, so understand your predicament of living so far away. Good hunting!
