    1. Re: [WILLIAMS] Being polite/Eleanorand Frederick
    2. I had to read all the posts on my so called rudeness and it made me sad that tempers could get so out of hand over such a simple subject. Dan, I am in fact a list administrator and have used many hours researching my MCHAM files on families not my own for those who post . I am not retired, in fact I work two jobs plus care for my living descendents which is sometimes not as rewarding as my genealogy research, especially when I can help others, considering that my children are making choices that have been proven wrong so many times that it would seem they would learn if not from me, then from others, including their friends... but hey Im jus the mom... When I suggested that "Samuels" may have the time to make lists of acronyms commonly used I was not being facetious , more envious than anything. And Dan, at 79 yrs young rather than stating what I am not, even though you have no clue, maybe you have time to share acronyms commonly used. otherwise, as I tried to make plain, I will try to find time to answer any questions directed to me and if anyone on list also can send answers that will make it really nice, SHARING as it should be. Now to Joannie...I am always glad to see these discussions/comments included in a query so as not to waste space. Some Surnames will also be found all caps to help tell the list which lines are in question I will give a short example: not a real query_________________________ Ted WILLIAMS m HELEN mnu, MNU Williams in 1835 in Dix IA and she was the ch of Fred S/Unk and Carol HOPE. so someone has a letter or other doc which lists Helen's father as Fred and mother as Carol Hope. Query: is Hope a surname or middle name? Fred's SURNAME IS UNKNOWN, as is his dau's Maiden name. trans" Ted Williams married Helen middle name unknown, Maiden Name Unknown in 1835 in Dix IA. She was the dau of fred last name unknown and carol Hope, unknown if HOPE is middle or last name. solution: find a mrg cert for Ted Williams and Helen in Dix IA it will probably have her middle and maiden name and if she was a minor it may have parents or other relatives as posting a marriage bond. _________________________________________ now to examine your post to see if I can direct you anywhere. This is not my line but I do know that NovaScotia just opened up a huge database that may be helpful to you. I just google nova scotia genealogy and find it that way. I use ggrpa/ma 2xggrpa/ma 3x etc... remember that you your mom and your gramma are 3 gen but your ggramma is 1x and so forth on back . Also there are many rev war loyalist lists online try them to see if you can find a match.Westchester NY also has quite a few old prerev war and contemporary records , but be sure to check and see if county size or boundries changed by checking the genweb for that county and reading the history. I hope some of this helps. good luck gloria On Sun, 17 Jun 2007 17:40:41 -0400 "Joanie G" <naturalistandherbalist@gmail.com> writes: > Hello, I am a newbie here and I usually take any word with all caps > to be an > acronym. > Most, I can figure out from context - MNU would be one of those. > A sentence *full* of acronyms would be problematic for me, but I > have not > seen that here so far. > And if I do see one, I can always ask what it means. > I did not take anyone's words in this little debate to be "blasting" > or > critical, really, either... > everyone is just expressing their opinions and I have not disagreed > with the > substance of anyone's really... > > These are just the opinions of one who has been reading for just a > few days > though..dunno if there is more I missed. > > Anyway... the Williamses I just discovered a relationship to are > Eleanor > Williams (b.1771 in Westchester County, NY) who married John Acorn > on Prince > Edward Island in September 1788, and her dad, Captain Frederick > Williams, > who was a Loyalist and a British officer who moved to Nova Scotia > (Digby, I > think) after the Revolutionary war (and his time as a "Cowboy", from > what I > have gathered) > > I have read references to Eleanor's family going back to the 1500's > in New > York..but have not come across much information on that yet...and so > that is > the reason I am here.
