My half uncle's g-grandfather (David S. Williams)& gg-grandfather (John H. Williams Jr.) was living in Madison & Washington Co. at least between 1847-1896, his g-grandfather was in Texas by the 1870's. My husband's family is all from Duplin Co. What I find interesting about this is, my uncle and my husband look remarkably alike, as did my uncle's father (my step grandfather) and my husband's grandfather. So I have been trying to find a connection between the two Williams line. Unfortunately I have reached a brick wall with my husbands line, but my uncle's goes all the way back to SC in the 1700's. What is strange in my uncle's line is they kept jumping back and forth between KY and AR, so apparently there was land or family that kept them traveling every generation. Was wondering if anyone had a connection with the below family to the Duplin Co. Williams: John Williams b. Abt 1750, Near Charleston, SC d. KY John H. Williams b. Abt 1775, SC d. Madison Co., AR John H. Williams Jr. b. 7 Oct 1814, Morgan Co., KY d. 1896, Madison Co., AR David S. Williams b.6 Aug 1847, Washington Co., AR d. 7 October 1921, prob San Saba Co., TX I appreciate any help that is available. I can't help injecting my Williams family line into this correspondence. My Grandfather James Thomas Williams was bn in Sebastian Co., AR 1879 to Thomas Jefferson Williams and Mary Elizabeth Graddy who were married in Sebastian Co., AR Sept 1869. Thomas J. arrived in Sebastian Co., AR between 1866 & 1869. We don't know if he was related to anyother Williams' in Sebastian Co., AR. Thomas J. Williams was bn 1838 Hopkins Co., KY to Benjamin(bn KY 1810) & Mahala Watson Williams (bn KY 1810). We have no further data on these parents. Unfortunately, Benjamin died in Hopkins Co., KY 1845/46. Mary Elizabeth Graddy was bn 1834 Marshall Co., KY to John J. & Elizabeth Cox Graddy. This Graddy family is found in TX (Hunt & Fannin Cos 1858-1880); W.KY Counties of Hopkins, Crittenden, Christian, Henderson, Union & Webster from very early 1800's to present. Previous to migrating up into W.KY these Grady/Graddys were from Duplin Co.,NC I had suspected for 15+ years before proving in March of this year that Mary Elizabeth Graddy was related to W.KY Grady/Graddy families who originated in Duplin Co., NC. We are now in the process of encouraging Williams descendants of those early W.KY Counties to consider dna testing. There appear to be three separate Williams families in Hopkins Co., KY in the early to mid 1800's. At the same time, I am trying to prove a connection between my GGGrandfather Benjamin Williams bn KY 1810 and any NC Williams', namely those of Duplin County, NC. area. These Williams people consistently chose the same given names generation after generation; i.e., Benjamin, Thomas, James, Daniel, Charles, Samuel. My Williams GGrandfather Thomas Jefferson and his brothers were short with dark hair and very dark eyes. My Williams Grandfather was very tall, slender, but still with that dark hair and very dark eyes. They were very good looking men, with fine facial features. We have some photos.
