    2. Rootsweb has lists of gen terms used, and I for one dont have enough time to go through this over and over again. Any newbie needs to make it his or her responsibility to google the terminolgy listings. When I was learning medical terminology it was I who had to study it, not have it explained to me...jus a thought.you could say the same for migration patterns , also inc here below, and if someone does not understand these, then they also need a beginners gen course, or write me direct for an explanation if/when I have time. And dont think i dont feel, I had a devil of a time researching Barbara EXUM for the longest time til someone recommended a beginners course...(and did i feel stupid!!!) I am the member of over fifty lists so i need to use acronyms and abreviations and only some punctuation, since i am a slow typist. If "Samuels" has the time to list a few pertaining to this list it would be great, but as I said there are lists already out there that are easily found. thank you. BTW&FYI... 1. Re: [WILLIAMS] WILLIAMS in NY - Otsego & Delaware County - Admin Rules?
    2. Rene'
    3. Regarding the below statement, I as a subscriber of the Williams list would like to know if this statement is from the administrator of this list or just another subscriber? As a subscriber to many lists, an administrator to another list and a message board administrator, I have never had someone tell someone else they couldn't ask questions about what something means, whether it be acronyms or migration patterns. What I have been taught as an administrator of a list is that they are for asking questions and for giving and sharing information - no matter what it is, as long as it pertains to the subject matter of the list. Belittling someone because they asked a question is not a nice way to treat people. I would like to know what this list administrators rules are, especially in the case of digest mail and deleting messages that do not pertain to the message you are sending and if there is a rule about changing subject lines. On my list and others, messages are supposed to be deleted that you are not directly replying to, this wastes space on the servers if you don't do so, plus it wastes a lot of space in the archives. Now on to my question regarding Williams - I'm looking for Williams in Otsego and Delaware County NY. John Williams b. 1741 d. 1840 married to Penelope Phillips b. 1767 d. 1820. They were married in Providence RI. Does anyone have them in their tree? Thanks, Rene' -------Original Message------- From: gloriamlh@juno.com Date: 6/17/2007 1:36:28 AM To: dwsbgs@centurytel.net; williams@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WILLIAMS] WILLIAMS Digest, Vol 2, Issue 115 Rootsweb has lists of gen terms used, and I for one dont have enough time to go through this over and over again. 1. [WILLIAMS] Exum
    2. J Hansen
    3. Hi, Exum can be 2 things: It is Latin for "unknown" (I looked it up on a Latin-English translation site). It is also a surname-- I have an Exum line in Virginia and North Carolina that covers several generations. I have copies of wills, etc., so I know it's the real name used in documents, not just someone's assumption that the Latin exum was someone's name.
