    3. Kay Williams: Hieronymus Glantz/Claunch/Clontz, etc was from a German speaking area of Europe. We have never found just where. It could have been Holland or one of the German speaking provinces - I think it was Bavaria but have no proof. No all the male direct Clontz descendants that I know of have passed away so there has been no DNA testing. It has been stated that the name Glantz was Jewish but if so they had fled to the baptismal font well before coming to PA as they were Lutheran and remained in the Lutheran church for several generations. My direct line left PA and went to Lunenburg Co., VA, then the son, Hans Micale/John Michael Glantz moved to Mecklenburg Co., NC around the middle 1700's and many of his descendants are still living in that area as well as many having moved out to other states. It is surprising to find so many Clontz, Clonts, Claunch, Clonch, Cloncs names across this nation but yet it is not well known. The name became known in NC as Clontz sometime after the Rev. War. Both Jeremiah b 1756 and his brother George b 1760 signed their Rev. War pension applications as Clontz I the 1830's. Dorothy C. Thank you for caring and asking. HIeronymus Glantz/Claunch/Clontz -- wow what an unusual name. From what nationality or language might it have come??? Have you been able to yDNA test a male descendant from that person? Sorry, I cannot find anything like that (CLAUNCH) in my computer database. But our yDNA was R1a, and not many of those are in the WILLIAMS DNA Project. Our close yDNA match now lives in TN. and his WILLIAMSes have been in TN. several generations. He thinks his ancestors came from N.C. And a closer 'cousin' of his lives in AR. Sincerely, Kay (Williams) C. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dorothy White To: williams@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, June 18, 2007 9:53 AM Subject: Re: [WILLIAMS] Being polite - May I check for your WILLIAMS 'tribe'? I hope your medical procedure goes well and you will be back to normal pronto. Do you have an side name of Claunch/Clonch/Clontz/Cloncs among your Williams ancestors in Mercer, KY? I am descended from HIeronymus Glantz/Claunch/Clontz. Some of his descendants living/lived in Mercer County, KY? I am descended from Joseph Williams first found in Duplin Co. (that part that became Sampson Co) NC in the 1760's and moved to Anson County, NC around 1800. Some of his children and grandchildren have been found in TN and AR. But most stayed in Anson Co., NC with a number of his descendants still living in Monroe, NC and Union Co. that part that was once Anson Co. before 1842. If you have any Claunch, etc. information I would really appreciate comparing research. Dorothy C.
