    2. There are those who share and those who don't. Thank God for the ones who have the time and inclination to share. It makes such a difference to the new ones -- who will hopefully remember and share later. There are those who don't know classes even exist. We need to be nice, kind and give them explanations. Every person researching is another person adding to the body of knowledge. Hopefully, we help them add better stuff, more correctly done because we are kind. 3. I hope I did not offend anyone with my reply to the original message about UKM. It made me think about what it might mean and I think I came up with the correct answer, but am not sure. I did not know what it meant and I have done genealogy for over 10 years now. I am not by any means a professional, nor do I know the answer to everything. I am very thankful for those seasoned genealogist who have taught me a lot of what I know. That is the only way many of us learn. Without the sharing of others I would not know half of what I now know. For some this is a hobby and not an obsession as it is with me or a profession as it is with others. If we are too critical of others it takes the fun out of it, and we might just scare away some very important clues. Again, I hope I offended no one with my reply. That was not my intent. If I did I am profoundly sorry. Happy Father's Day all you Dad's out there. 3. Hello, I am a newbie here and I usually take any word with all caps to be an acronym. Most, I can figure out from context - MNU would be one of those. A sentence *full* of acronyms would be problematic for me, but I have not seen that here so far. And if I do see one, I can always ask what it means. I did not take anyone's words in this little debate to be "blasting" or critical, really, either... everyone is just expressing their opinions and I have not disagreed with the substance of anyone's really... These are just the opinions of one who has been reading for just a few days though..dunno if there is more I missed. Anyway... the Williamses I just discovered a relationship to are Eleanor Williams (b.1771 in Westchester County, NY) who married John Acorn on Prince Edward Island in September 1788, and her dad, Captain Frederick Williams, who was a Loyalist and a British officer who moved to Nova Scotia (Digby, I think) after the Revolutionary war (and his time as a "Cowboy", from what I have gathered) I have read references to Eleanor's family going back to the 1500's in New York..but have not come across much information on that yet...and so that is the reason I am here. Most of what I know at this point is from Acorn researchers on line. Eleanor would be my ummm.. great grandmother Harriet Acorn's great grandmother...so, what would that be to me? Gggg grandmother? And Frederick be my Ggggg grandfather, I think. Now would this be also expressed as 4th great and 5th great grandparents? (this is the sort of thing I get confused with, translating terms like "4th great" to the actual numbers of "greats" to recite in a relationship..but it is not an important question..just something that I am confused about) Anyway, that is the line of Williams I am looking for more information on...normally I would just wait till it "came up", but decided to give my opinion about politeness instead, and then explain why I am here.
