    3. James: Have you checked Providence Williams as a father to Stephen Williams? We have a Providence in our line in Newberry Co., South Carolina. I also saw a Stephen Williams with a land patent in Howell Co., Missouri in 1861, about the same time my GG Grandmother, Sarah Jane Norman Williams moved to Missouri from Graves Co., Kentucky. My Williams lines were in Old Ninety-Six District - then Newberry Co., South Carolina during the Rev. War. Daniel Williams and Cassandra Prather Williams. I have found Providence Williams in Virginia and in Maryland. There is a Joseph Williams, wife Lydia, Providence Williams wife Sarah, and Ann Williams Paulson/Poulson husband Richard Paulson/Poulson living in Frederick Co., Maryland 1733. Joseph, Providence, and Ann were siblings. They moved to Orange Co., later Frederick Co., Virginia by 1735 or so. There was a Richard Williams, wife Susanah Peters, in Hampshire Co., West Virginia. He and his daughter Susannah were kidnapped by the Indians. He escaped and 13 years later, Susannah was traded for Indian prisioners. Hope this helps. Daniel and Cassandra are our oldest proven ancestors. We are studk there. Can't find Daniel's parents for sure. Might be Joseph and Lydia in Maryland 1733. Daniel was born abt 1747 in Prince George's Co., Maryland or in Virginia.
