    3. Flora: The earliest Williams ancestor I can "prove" is Benjamin Williams bn KY 1810, died Hopkins Co., KY 1845/46. We have zeroed in on the Duplin Co., NC area as a possible place where this Williams family came from to W.KY. But, can't, as yet, prove it. As for the Golightly surname. The only reason I mentioned it was one of my cousins at Wilburton, Latimer, OK is married to a Golightly. I keep running across that surname in W.AR and E. OK. I really wish that I could refer you to someone who could help. The Latimer Co., OK History & Genealogical Society is very active and they have a site on Rootsweb. I am sure that if you queried them, someone would respond. You might also try Poteau Valley (LeFlore Co., OK) Society re Golightly surname. They too are very accomodating regarding queries. 3. Thank you Carol, I will put a query out there and see if anyone knows of a connection back into the 1700s in VA. 3. It is thought that Jonas WILLIAMS [b. ca. 1770-1775 VA. m. 5 Apr 1798 in Mercer Co., KY to Elizabeth THOMPSON and d. 6 Aug 1838 in Washington Co., IL.] had a son - Benjamin WILLIAMS b. before 1810 probably in Barren Co., KY. d. before 1850 possibly in Washington Co., IL., but I really don't know where.... I do not know if he married, but I would be surprised if he didn't marry. Kay (Williams) C.
