Francie, thanks very much for your reply. The Samuel Williams I am looking for was a Loyalist. He and all his sons fought on "the other side". His property in Anson Co. was confiscated. After the Revolution he left for England but died either before or just after the ship landed. I am related to Williams families on both sides during the war. I have lots of info on other parts of the family, and I know Samuel was related to them back in earlier generations, but I just can't quite tie him in to these families. The missing link in my research probably won't be in Anson Co., but in some of the earlier counties the various families lived in: Hanover Co. VA, then Granville Co., NC. I have just over 100 Williamses in my database who are all related to this line. I'll be glad to check what I have if you want to send me some names (be sure to include at least one date even if approximate) as this family seems to use the same names over and over.
