Do these Wades or Williams connect to anyone, do you have any information about or suggestions for research. My 3rd great grandmother is Amanda Wade. According to her obit she was born abt 1825 in Greene County GA and died 15 Sep 1875 in Floyd County, GA. She married Pleman R. (PR) Williams before 1847. Amanda and PR were not found in the 1850 census but were living in Floyd County in the 1860 & 1870 census. Child of PR & Amanda Williams was Frances Annie Elizabeth Williams born 13 Oct 1847 in Floyd County, GA. PR Williams 2nd married Mary Jane Brewer on 12 Dec 1876 in Floyd Co GA. Amanda's sister Mahala Frances Wade was born abt 1824 in GA, probably Greene County. Mahala married PR's brother William Crawford Williams on 18 Dec 1839 in Greene County, GA. Wm & Mahala Williams were in the 1850-1870 Floyd County GA Census. William C Williams died 1876 in Floyd County GA. Mahala and her mother Lucy were in the 1880 Floyd County Census. When and where Mahala died is unknown. William & Mahula never had any children. Amanda's brother Joshua L. Wade was born about 1829 in GA, probably Greene County. Joshua & his mother Lucy were living with Mahala F. & William C. Williams in the 1850 Floyd County GA census. Joshua married Mary Ann "Tennessee" Shugart on 17 Sep 1852 in Floyd County, GA. Joshua, his wife & children were living in Floyd County, GA in the 1860 & 1870 census. In the 1870 census mother Lucy was living with Joshua. Joshua died between 1870 & 1880. His wife & children were still living in Floyd County in 1880. The mother of Amanda, Mahala, & Joshua was Lucy (maiden name unknown) was born abt 1798 in Georgia. Lucy was shown living with her daughter Mahula Williams in the 1850, 1860, & 1870 census. The son Joshua Wade also showed her living with him in the 1870 census. Lucy (Unknown) Wade died after 1880 as she was living with her daughter Mahala Williams in the 1880 Floyd Co Census. Thanks for any help. Lynn Farrer

Hi Lynn, Amanda Wade got me going there for a minute. I also have an Amanda Wade, who was born 1857 in Talbot Co., GA. Her father James Wade was born 1820 also in Georgia. He married Mary Elizabeth Thompson on 26 June 1840. I would suspect that your Amanda and my James Wade could have been bother and sister, at least they were in the same age brackets and also in the same general areas. James Wade's oldest daughter was Antoinette "Nettie" Wade, she married William Jabez Donald on 20 December 1877 in Bartow Co., GA. Their daughter Minnie Elizabeth Donald married Noah Z. Carpenter. Naoh and Minnie were my grandparents and they lived in Chattooga Co., GA. I don't know who James's parents were, if you find the parents of your Amanda there could be a connection also to James.
