Hi Lynn, Amanda Wade got me going there for a minute. I also have an Amanda Wade, who was born 1857 in Talbot Co., GA. Her father James Wade was born 1820 also in Georgia. He married Mary Elizabeth Thompson on 26 June 1840. I would suspect that your Amanda and my James Wade could have been bother and sister, at least they were in the same age brackets and also in the same general areas. James Wade's oldest daughter was Antoinette "Nettie" Wade, she married William Jabez Donald on 20 December 1877 in Bartow Co., GA. Their daughter Minnie Elizabeth Donald married Noah Z. Carpenter. Naoh and Minnie were my grandparents and they lived in Chattooga Co., GA. I don't know who James's parents were, if you find the parents of your Amanda there could be a connection also to James. Do these Wades or Williams connect to anyone, do you have any information about or suggestions for research. My 3rd great grandmother is Amanda Wade. According to her obit she was born abt 1825 in Greene County GA and died 15 Sep 1875 in Floyd County, GA. She married Pleman R. (PR) Williams before 1847. Amanda and PR were not found in the 1850 census but were living in Floyd County in the 1860 & 1870 census. Child of PR & Amanda Williams was Frances Annie Elizabeth Williams born 13 Oct 1847 in Floyd County, GA. PR Williams 2nd married Mary Jane Brewer on 12 Dec 1876 in Floyd Co GA. Amanda's sister Mahala Frances Wade was born abt 1824 in GA, probably Greene County. Mahala married PR's brother William Crawford Williams on 18 Dec 1839 in Greene County, GA. Wm & Mahala Williams were in the 1850-1870 Floyd County GA Census. William C Williams died 1876 in Floyd County GA. Mahala and her mother Lucy were in the 1880 Floyd County Census. When and where Mahala died is unknown. William & Mahula never had any children. Amanda's brother Joshua L. Wade was born about 1829 in GA, probably Greene County. Joshua & his mother Lucy were living with Mahala F. & William C. Williams in the 1850 Floyd County GA census. Joshua married Mary Ann "Tennessee" Shugart on 17 Sep 1852 in Floyd County, GA. Joshua, his wife & children were living in Floyd County, GA in the 1860 & 1870 census. In the 1870 census mother Lucy was living with Joshua. Joshua died between 1870 & 1880. His wife & children were still living in Floyd County in 1880. The mother of Amanda, Mahala, & Joshua was Lucy (maiden name unknown) was born abt 1798 in Georgia. Lucy was shown living with her daughter Mahula Williams in the 1850, 1860, & 1870 census. The son Joshua Wade also showed her living with him in the 1870 census. Lucy (Unknown) Wade died after 1880 as she was living with her daughter Mahala Williams in the 1880 Floyd Co Census. Thanks for any help. Lynn Farrer

As I mentioned in my Genforum post, Robert Williams’ wife Anne was NOT the daughter of Joseph Scott and Sarah (--) Lee Scott. Joseph and Sarah were each married prior to each other, and had no children of their own together. Your Anne, wife of Robert Williams, was a Lee, not a Scott. If you are trying to connect to the Scotts through Anne (Lee) Williams, you’re making an incorrect link. Sarah (--) married first to Godfrey Lee (son of John Lee and Mary ?) as early as 1723. Godfrey was born 1707 or earlier, died around 1740, and he and Sarah had the following children: Anne Lee – your Anne, the one who married Robert Williams. Sarah Lee Samuel Lee Meanwhile, Joseph Scott I and his unknown first wife had the following children: Joseph Scott – b. before 1719; married Mary Holmes; settled in Bertie Co., NC. This Joseph is my direct ancestor. Nehemiah Scott – b. before 1723; m. Elizabeth (Atkinson?); settled in Bertie Co., NC. William Scott Mary Scott – m. Thomas Pugh. Ann Scott – m. Samuel Webster. Sarah Scott – m. William Pool. Benjamin Scott – b. after 1732 (a minor when Joseph Scott died in 1753). John Scott – b. after 1732 (a minor when Joseph Scott died in 1753). Elizabeth Scott – b. after 1732 (a minor when Joseph Scott died in 1753). It is not known when Joseph Scott’s first wife died, but shortly after Godfrey Lee died around 1740, Godfrey’s widow Sarah (--) Lee married Joseph Scott. In a 1749 deed in Northampton Co., NC, Joseph and Sarah Scott deeded personal property to Anne (Lee) Williams, Sarah Lee, and Samuel Lee. These three were specifically identified in the deed as the children of SARAH ONLY. None of them – including your Anne (Lee) Williams – was a child of Joseph Scott. Joseph Scott and Sarah (--) Lee had NO CHILDREN TOGETHER. Joseph Scott’s will no longer survives, but according to a suit brought against Sarah by his children, Joseph left most of his property to Sarah’s children (his step-children), and Joseph’s natural children sued Sarah to get what they felt was their rightful inheritance. By the way, you had mentioned in another email a Nehemiah Scott who married Christian Williams. Do you have dates on this Nehemiah Scott or know who his parents were? I have a ton of different Nehemiah Scotts in my database, several of whom I’m missing marriage info on, so I’m just trying to figure out which Nehemiah Scott this one would be. Anyway, please let me know if you have any questions. If you do an online search for Godfrey Lee, you should be able to find out quite a bit more about him; I understand that his line has been researched by several others who have posted lots of info on the web. I hope this helps! Always do right. This will gratify some people & astonish the rest. -Mark Twain- </HTML>

Have you run across the names Lodwick, Edward or Joseph Williams in your line? I am searching for the parents and ancestors of Joseph Williams b ca 1748 somewhere in northeastern NC, married Martha Perritt/Parrott ca 1766, had property in Sampson Co. NC he sold in 1797 and moved to Anson Co., NC just after the Sampson Co. 1800 census. Died in Anson Co., NC July 6, 1825. I cannot prove his parents so I have no siblings names (if any.) I would really appreciate any information or clue. Dorothy C. White dotwhite@comcast.net
Trying to find the marriage for Anne SCOTT and Robert Williams, SR. They married either in Northampton County, North Carolina or Dobbs County, North Carolina. He was born about 1710- TIA Always do right. This will gratify some people & astonish the rest. -Mark Twain- </HTML>
Have you checked the Mormon Church site?I typed Anne Scott, no dates and clicked on United States and North Carolina. There were many Anne Scotts. I scrolled down to Pedigree Resource Files. They scrolled down again to North Carolina. The two counties are on the same page. Check dates as some wouldn't fit. It does show her married to Robert Williams, Sr. Open the various files and look at pedigree and family links. You may have already done this but if not, it is worthwhile. Good luck. --- F2bemee@wmconnect.com wrote: > Trying to find the marriage for Anne SCOTT and > Robert Williams, SR. Hi all, Does anyone connect to John Allsworth Williams. He was 1791. His father was Thomas (Allsworth)Williams. This is a part of the story. The Williams family are holding forth on the upper porch of the Inn and have about 100 members in attendance. This family has a most interesting family history. Their ancestor being one Thomas Allsworth, son of Lord and Lady Allsworth, who was born in 1739 in Tyrone Co, Ireland. He was impressed (sic) into the British service and deserting, came to this country in 1757, when he took the name of Thomas Williams. He visited his old home again when he was seventy years old under cover of darkness. He was a commissioned officer in the Revolutionary War and had eight children, of which John Allsworth came to Woodhull and settled. Looking for anyone who connects to this family. Brenda
