I am trying to find info. on Florence Reedy b. abt. 1897. She was the d/o James Arthur Reedy/S.V. Fortner. They were living in Smyth Co.,Va. in the 1910 census. I recently found Florence in the 1920 census of Roanoke City,Va. She is listed as Florence Williams,head of household,age 23,works at a laundry. Her sister,Ossie Reedy is also listed with her,age 19 and works at a laundry. There is no husband listed with her and I don't know his first name,but if anyone should have any knowledge at all about Florence Reedy Williams,I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. Hello, Evelyn. Joyce Lindstrom does not mention where the name John Williams came from. I have both Van Hooser and Williams ancestors. My Van Hoosers are most all Joyce's book, but I do not know if the Williams that connected to those Van Hoosers are my ancestors. My Williams (Shadrack 1762-1839) came from Maryland, then Russell Co., Va., then Grainger Co., Tenn. I descend from his daughter Elizabeth who married William Cornell STEPHENS. The Malcomb family is holding a gathering on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at Bee Run pavilion 5, Sutton WV from 11 a.m. to ?? This line descends from John & Mary Potts Malcomb, circa 1800 Bath VA. Am having serious trouble finding birth/death dates and locations for my gr-gr-grandfather, William Edward Williams, b. Wales. All we know is that he was born in Wales. The last record we have of him is his tax record, which was posted in Clearfield City, Clearfield Co, PA, in 1883. After that, we can't find him. His wife, children, and their families are all buried in the same Williams family plot in Pittsburgh, but he is not buried there. Speculation is that he died in a mining accident and his body was not recovered, or that he died in Clearfield City and is buried in a cemetery there ... but we can't find where. He was reported in the 1880 US Census as being 72 years old (if the census can be believed - it had wrong ages for all of their children!), so he was probably born in very early 1800's. But where in Wales he was born, is unknown. He married Caroline Hahn (could be Huhn, Hoon, Hun) from Saxony, Germany. Their children were: 1. Annie M Williams, b. 1863, Clearfield Co, PA 2. Seth Asa Williams, b. 1865, Clearfield Co, PA 3. Caroline (Carrie) Williams (Doyle) [Conley], b. 1870, Hollidaysburg, Blair Co., PA 4. William Edward Williams, b. 1871, Phillipsburg, Clearfield Co, PA 5. Sarah Ray Williams (Savage), b. 1875, Centre Co, PA 6. Esther Williams (Flick), b. 1878, Phillipsburg, Clearfield Co., PA They were living in Clearfield City in 1880 according to the US Census. William is listed as a coal miner. My father was a product of a WILLIAMS - BRANSTETTER union. Grandmother was Ellen WILLIAMS (OH) who married Lyman BRANSTETTER (OH). I was looking at some state birth records and found others who were products of Williams and Branstetters that were not my aunts uncles or 1st. cousins. The surname WILLIAMS is far more common than the surname BRANSTETTER so I find it odd that the two connected more than once. Any WILLIAMS onlist with a BRANSTETTER connection? Mary "Polly" Browning, sold his land and moved to Wilson Co. Tn. where his daughter Leticia, married Jesse Williams, Jesse had a brother named William Divine Williams, I havn't found the "Divine" connection yet, but am sure there is one.
