Clear DaySeeking information regarding Emma Williams b. about 1815-1820 in England. Married James E. Smith, probably about 1840. Emma's parents were Edward Williams b. about 1792 in England and Vancension (?) b. about 1793, also in England. Based on census data, they came to America about 1832-33. In addition to Emma, identified children of this couple are Aaron b. 1827, Mary b. 1832, Sarah b. 1833, William b. 1840 and James b. 1843. All of these dates are approximate. In 1850 & 1860, Edward & Vancension are in Fond du Lac County, WI. I have found no trace of them after that date. By 1870, Emma and some of her siblings have relocated to Humboldt County, IA. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? Darlene Casteel
Hello, I am looking to connect with descendants and researchers of the DOLLARHIDE - WHITE - WILLIAMS family group that was in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana in the early 1800s. I would very much like to find out if anyone has any corroborating evidence that the Elizabeth WHITE, born: bef. 1817 in Catahoula Parish, who was the daughter of Sarah "Sally" DOLLARHIDE and Martin D. WHITE as shown further below, and who married William WILLIAMS, are my maternal great grandparents as it would appear that they are. Relatively new information leads me to believe that my maternal lineage descends from this family through my maternal grandfather, Louis Hector "Hec" SLAUGHTER, born: February 14, 1869 in/near Liddieville, Franklin Parish, Louisiana, son of Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, born: March 13, 1844 in Greene/Pickens County, Alabama, and wife, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, born: bef./abt. 1840 probably in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana right before the family moved to Franklin Parish, Louisiana. Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS was the daughter of William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1790 in Maryland, and his wife, Elizabeth ?, whom I have just come to believe is the Elizabeth WHITE, born: bef. 1817 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, died: ??, and married William WILLIAMS in 1837 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. According to the information that I have seen Elizabeth WHITE was the daughter of Martin D. WHITE, born: April 17, 1795 in Louisiana, died: March 11, 1851 in Trinity County, Texas, who fought in the Battle of San Jacinto, and his wife, Sarah "Sally" DOLLARHIDE, born: July 27, 1797 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, died: November 30, 1852 in Alabama Creek, Trinity County, Texas, married 1816 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, who was the daughter of Youthan/Eutha Ann WILLIAMS, born: bet. 1760-1770, (daughter of Mary ? and William WILLIAMS, born: bet. 1730-1737 in Marion County, Indiana, (would imagine there is a connection with the other William WILLIAMS who married Elizabeth WHITE but don't know what that is,) and Youthan/Eutha Ann WILLIAMS' husband, Asahel "Asa" DOLLARHIDE, born: January 17, 1745 in Caswell County, North Carolina, died: October 28, 1856 in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, and Youthan/Eutha Ann and Asashel "Asa" married about 1795 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Asahel "Asa" DOLLARHIDE, according to the information that I have seen was the son of Nancy CHITTINGTON, born: 1747 in North Carolina, died: 1849 in Diboll, Angelina County, Texas, and John DOLLARHIDE, born: 1751, died: 1853 in Diboll, Angelina County, Texas. hi all I'm new to this list and would like to post my interests I have a Frederick WILLIAMS married Sarah Ann Maud BULLOCK in 1894 in Ross-on-Wye. Sarah was born about 1872 in Ross and I have found her parents to be Thomas and Hannah from the 1881 census (dwelling place Brampton Street, Ross). I think frederick's mother was married twice as there was some confusion as to whetehr his surname was WILLIAMS or STEVENS. I've found the marriage on the freeBMD and confirms WILLIAMS. Any help would be greatly appreciated Regards David

I am trying to identify the wife of the Joseph Carpenter in the record below and there is a chance that she is a Williams, judging by the record. 5 March 1711/12. Pursuant to the Last Court's Order, Hannah, a mulato belonging to Francis Williams, being summoned to appear at this Court to answer what should be alledged against her by Alice Williams, wife of said Francis, for her threatening and abusing her, the said Alice and the Court having heard the evidence of Grizell Carpenter, John Williams, Joseph Carpenter and Elizabeth Williams. Source: Sparacio, "Richmond County Orders, 1711-1716," page 9. -------------------------------------> This is the part of Richmond Co. which would soon become King George Co. Does this Grizell (Carpenter) belong to this Williams family? Can anybody tell me anything about this Williams family? Dear Kathleen, Specifically regarding your WILLIAMS family in Quebec and, perhaps, others that may have had WILLIAMS families in Quebec, Canada and/or Nova Scotia in the early 1800s, did any of your WILLIAMS group prior to 1790 immigrate into Maryland, U.S.A.? My maternal 2nd great grandfather, William WILLIAMS, was born abt. 1790 in Maryland, according to my little bit of information, and married a woman named Elizabeth ?/possibly Elizabeth WILLIAMS, born: probably after 1790 who was born in Ohio. One of them would have been of French and Indian ancestry or, possibly, one was part French and one was part Indian. The name of Otho WILLIAMS was in their family with one of their sons who along with his siblings who include my great grandmother, maternal, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, were born in either Catahoula Parish or Franklin Parish, Louisiana before or about 1840. I don't know precisely when the family moved to or from Maryland into Catahoula Parish. It may have been when William WILLIAMS was a child or as an adult. Nor do I know his parents or siblings name or where he lived before Louisiana. The name Otho WILLIAMS does exist strongly in a Maryland WILLIAMS family line from the 1700s but I have yet to find a connection. My great grandmother, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, married my maternal great grandmother, Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, born: May 13, 1844 in Greene/Pickens County, Alabama, who was the son of Susan CROUCH, born: abt. 1815 in Richmond County, North Carolina, (daughter of Samuel CROUCH, born: abt. 1780 in Richmond County, North Carolina,) and John M. SLAUGHTER, born: abt. 1795 in Blackjack Township, Richmond County, North Carolina, (son of Mary McDONALD and (Reverend) Owen SLAUGHTER, Jr., (son of Mary Elizabeth BOLTON, born: abt. 1741 in Nansemond County, Virginia, and Owen SLAUGHTER, Sr..) Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS and Hudson H. SLAUGHTER were the parents of Louis Hector "Hec" SLAUGHTER, (my maternal grandfather,) born: February 14, 1869,) who was in his late 50s when he married my grandmother who was about 20 years younger than he and she was Mrs. Ethel Rosalea HATTEN WOMACK, (1st husband was Joseph Marion WOMACK, Sr.,) and Louis was 1st married to Mrs. Callie Martha MUNN ADAMS?/KING? and then after Callie's death Louis married 2nd wife, Mary LEE, whose daughter, Mary SLAUGHTER, moved to Canada, according to my understanding. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from ANYONE who may have some idea who the parents of my William WILLIAMS are. Howdy "Cousins"... Seeking info on the above individuals as they may provide a link to my g-grandfather, James V. Williams and spouse Sarah (Sally) E. Williams, both said to have been born in Butler Co., AL and later moved & died in Montomery Co., TX. Also, if Jeremy Williams, who has also been working this line, would contact me, or anyone who has had contact with Jeremy Williams would please contact me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks... Census lists for 1840: 1 male 5-10. 1 male 20-30 (John Williams). 1 male 50-60 (John or his wife's father). 1 female under 5. 1 female 20-30 (John's wife). This John Williams is not listed on the 1850 Pickens County, AL census. I would like to locate this family in 1850, but this is very difficult because of the numerous John Williams listed. I suspect they are in either Alabama or moved to Mississippi as many families did in 1850 & 1860. Any guidelines or suggestions you can give me to help narrow down the search would be appreciated. Thank you, Jim Adams
I'm trying to locate information on a male Williams born about 1837 and died during the Civil War. On his son's Missouri death certificate, it states his name was Charles, born North Carolina. The 1860 Platte County, Missouri census gives his name as Frank. Other researchers of the Butner family have his name as Thomas. He married Harriett Butner (born 10 Nov 1840, Bethabara, Stokes Co, NC; died 14 June 1916, Cowiche, Yakima Co, WA; her second husband James Elliott; married 3 Mar 1872 Wilson Co, KS). Harriett is a daughter of Christian Harmon Butner (born Forsythe Co, NC; died Waldron Township, Platte Co, MO) and Maria Louisa 'Mary Eliza' Leinbach (Forsythe-Stokes Co area, NC; died Waldron Township, Platte Co, MO). Frank (Charles or Thomas) and Harriett are shown with one son (William, age 2, born MO) in the 1860 Platte Co, MO census. The 1870 Platte Co, MO census has Harriett living with her parents and two children, William and Mary E (born cir. 1862). Her third son, my great grandfather, was Thomas Henry Williams (born 6 Sept 1860; died 20 June 1929; buried Maryville, Nodaway Co, MO; married Rose Florence Branick 26 July 1881, Wilson Co, KS) Tom is living with one of his mother's brothers in Wilson Co, KS when the 1870 census was taken. I'm assuming Frank and Harriett were married in NC, probably not too long before the Butner family moved to MO. There is no marriage record in Platte Co, MO for them. My first question is-does this Frank (Charles or Thomas) fit in with anyone's NC Williams line? When and where were they married? What really happened to Frank (Charles or Thomas)-what unit did he serve with during the Civil War and where did he die? Thanks for the help! Bev Gardner Proud Mom of a United States Marine
