Al. 09-01-1858. His neighbors were Robert J. Williams (robert hatcher line) and Henry Williams. Is any one researching Henry? He must be related to be so close. Could his middle name have been Elias? There is an Elias Williams next door to William N. in Lauderdale Co. Ms. in 1870.William's other neighbors also include Patterson,Hollis,Methvine and Thomas. Are they related. Lewis WILLIAMS, born about 1648. Married Mary (unknown). Lewis appears to be the first of my line emigrating to America. In 1677 he signed the "Second Grievances of Nansemond County", asking redress for the grievances out of which grew Bacon's Rebellion. He had land grants in Nansemond County, Virginia and Chowan Precinct, North Carolina. The grants in Chowan Precinct began in 1697 and ended in 1714 for a total of 2,855 acres of land. He was a vestryman of the Southwest Parish of Chowan Precinct in 1907. June 17, 1707 he had a dispute with the Meherrin Indians, they attacked him in his house, wounding him but he drove the Indians away. His will, probated in 1717 in Chowan Precinct of the County of Albemarle, North Carolina included children: Anthony Priscilla Daughter (name unknown) Martha Another daughter (name unknown) Elizabeth What is his wife (Mary) maiden name? This is my second Williams "brick wall." Samuel Williams was the father of John Williams. The date of Samuel's birth is unknown. Samuel was living in Washington parish, LA in the 1820 census. His wife was Betsy Damerel. The date of their marriage is unknown. Their son John Williams was born between 1770-1780 in LA, probably Washington parish. John Williams married Julia Roy, daughter of Auguste Roy, Sr. and Marianne Moron in 1806 in Ouachita parish, LA. John died in 1835. Samuel Williams and Betsy Damerel probably had other children, but they are unknown to me. Any information on this Samuel Williams would be appreciated.
