I never saw so many long lost Williams therefore, would like to tell you folks my sad story. James Lewis Williams was born 1836 in TN. Parents NC. He married Effie Butler (b 1837) in 1863 TN. They had four children in TN before arriving in Scott County, AR in time for 1880 census. James is right age to have been in Civil War and I found one in Madison County, TN right age but TN archives either had the names fouled up or this James in Madison County was not mine. There were several Williams families in Scott County, AR but have been unable to connect with my family. James & Effie's oldest son was Nathan (my grandfather) b 1864 TN, m Cordelia Smith in probably Indian Territory. Their youngest son was born in Sebastian County (Ft. Smith) AR in 1879. Effie is buried in Scott County and has a nice tombstone but if James is buried beside her no marker exists. James died between 1910 and 1920. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Is anyone on this list from or researching Madison County, TN? Good luck to everyone. Betty

Never saw such a productive roll call before, guess I'll toss in my one and only Williams. An Eleaner Orndorff headed a household in the 1820 census of Shenandoah County, VA. An Eleaner Williams married a Phillip Orndorff in Frederick County, VA, on Sept. 29, 1795. A Phillip Orndorff headed a hosuehold in the 1810 census, and a Phillip Orndorff died in time for his estate to be cleared in 1818. Obviously, I believe these were all the same couple. One of Eleaner and Phillip's sons, Jesse, was a great-great grandfather of mine on Dad's side. Jesse's daughter married Joseph F. Pickering, and their son was my dad's grandpa. I myself enjoy the roll call. I do take the time to read all the mail. For someone like myself that doesn't have much on there WILLIAMS, I just might get lucky. If you don't read them all you may just pass up what you are looking for. All I know of my WILLIAMS is that they were in W.Va. in 1906. That doesn't mean they stayed there. Grr grand father ELLSWORTH's WILLIAMS children all or most of them lived in Pa. ELLSWORTH may have went to Pa or stayed in W.Va. For that matter he could have gone any where. If it be the LORD'S will, well reading I may find what I wish for. Good luck in all your readings. Goldie at gomaqueen@aol.com
WILLIAM Williams was born in RUSSELL CO., VA in 1795 to SHADRACK Williams and Hannah JONES Williams. He moved with his parents in about 1808 to GRAINGER CO., TN. It is believed that William later settled on Turnback Creek, GREEN CO., MO, which later became LAWRENCE CO. He may have died in GREENE CO., MO. A marriage by a William Williams to Anna COPELAND in GRAINGER CO., TN in 1817 is shown in marriage records, but it is unknown whether this is the correct William Williams. Can anyone verify this marriage? Who were their children? Where and when did William die? William's siblings were Samuel, Elizabeth, Sarah, John, Reece, Mary, and Joseph. Thanks. Carl Cason, Bothell, Washington email: ccason@compuserve.com
JOHN Williams was born in 1792 in RUSSELL CO., VA to SHADRACK Williams and Hannah JONES Williams. He probably moved to GRAINGER CO., TN with his parents in about 1808. There is a JOHN Williams of the correct age range in the 1840 Grainger Co. census. I don't know where he was in 1850. He may have married an Ababail SMITH. CD #229, Marriage Records Early to 1850, shows a John Williams marrying Elizabeth ARWINE on 16 Aug 1814 in Grainger Co., TN. Whom did he marry? Who were his children? Where did they live and die? John's siblings were Samuel, Elizabeth (my line), Sarah, Williams, Reece, Mary, and Joseph. Thanks. Carl Cason, Bothell, Washington email: ccason@compuserve.com
SAMUEL Williams was born 1786 to SHADRACK Williams and Hannah JONES Williams. He was born in SHENDNDOAH CO., Va., probably moved with his father to RUSSELL CO., VA in 1788/89, and to GRAINGER CO., TN in about 1808. The book "Marriages of Grainger Co., TN 1796-1837" by Whitley lists three marriages of Samuel Williamses, but it is currently unknown which, if any, is this Samuel: 23 Jan 1808 to Rebecca MORGAN; 10 Mar 1809 to Susannah HARRIS; and 15 Dec 1810 to Marion HALL. Whom did he marry? Where did they live and die? Who were their children? Samuel's siblings were Elizabeth, Sarah, John, William, Reace, Mary, and Joseph. Thanks.
