Multiple Digests in one day when there is heavy traffic is therefore not only possible, but normal. On one genealogy software list, when a long-awaited new version was released I got about a dozen digests, per day, for about a week! Hope this helps. Darrell Darrell A. 3. I for one don't understand how someone can complain about receiving posts regarding Williams families, on a Williams mailing list. Does that make sense? What is the purpose of a *Williams* mailing list, if NOT to post info re your Williams line? How else are you going to connect to someone else, who is looking for the same people you are but may have some info you don't. I do have one question, tho, I AM on the Digest list ... however I've been receiving four Digest emails each day, each one is different. How is this happening? Not sure who to write to, so I'm posting to the list. Is anyone else out there getting more than one Digest email per day? Keep the Williams roll call going! :) Phyllis

    3. Hi all, I think the roll call is a good idea and we should keep it going if for no other reason than to build up the archives for those who follow us in our search but is it possible to edit the subject line a bit. e.g.. all e-mails from the list start with [WILLIAMS] so we know that the subject has something to do with our family research and this is automatically generated. Can I ask that the very first thing that we should put is where the Williams connection comes from. e.g. Aus Charles David WILLIAMS; or UK James and Charlotte WILLIAMS, or US Bill and Betty WILLIAMS. That way when we get an e-mail from the list the subject line would read "[WILLIAMS] UK James WILLIAMS". If you aren't chasing family in the UK then delete it then and there. The delete button is fine but I still have to read about WILLIAMS' is the US when I know I have none over there. Sounds simple to me and it would help to prevent me getting RSI. By the way I really am interested in Aus Charles David WILLIAMS b abt 1844 in Lancashire, England and his parents in the UK James and Charlotte WILLIAMS. Ta muchly Neil Williams Australia ******************************************** Researching the names, ENGEL, HIGGINS, MANN, RYLAND, SATCHER, WENZEL(L), WILLIAMS from the SE QLD area. ****************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: "terry" <bigmomma@cei.net> To: <WILLIAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 11, 2002 10:07 AM Subject: [WILLIAMS] RE: Williams roll call > I have received so many angry replies because of this roll call. 3. Hi, I am looking for information on James S. Williams (b 1792 NC, d. 1863 Malvern AR) who married Polley Cole Johnson, daughter of Charles Johnson and Martha Pattey Lightfoot of VA. I can't seem to get farther back than James Williams. I know James and Polley married in Williamson Co. TN but they lived in Bolivar, Hardeman Co., TN until 1851 or 1852. James was a Methodist circuit preacher and married couples in the Williamson county area. They moved to Malvern, AR in 1851 and are in the census there. I would really like to get some ideas or help with going further back to James' ancestors. 1 James S.
