    1. Re: [WILLIAMS] Williams in Louisisana
    2. I have been researching the family of this John Williams. I descend from John's younger brother, Robert Walker Williams (b. 1807) of Pittsylvania County VA. See if this compares to your notes: John and Robert were 2 of 14 children of James Mastin Williams/Wilmoth Walker. (To go backward a bit, James Mastin Williams was one of 7 sons of William Williams/Lucy Terry.) (So to really start at the beginning -here is a BRIEF outline of my notes): William Williams b.ca. 1728, d. between Dec. 1777 and May 1780. I have nothing on his parents/ancestry. That will come in the future hopefully. He first married Mary Lewis (I have some info on her ancestry). William & Mary had 2 children: Lewis and Susannah. Next William married Lucy Terry November 21, 1755 in Halifax County VA. Lucy Terry b. ca. 1737 and died by July 21, 1788 in Pittsylvania County. She was the dau. of Joseph Terry/Judith Crawford. William & Lucy's children: 1.Joseph Terry Williams b. 1756 d. after 1832. 2.John Williams (I am DESPERATE for info on him). 3.James Mastin Williams 1763-1838.*(see next section below). 4.Thomas Terry Williams d. 1794. 5.David Champness Williams. 6.William Mastin Williams. 7.Doctor Crawford Williams d. bef. May 1857. - - - - *James Mastin Williams m. in 1784 to Wilmoth Walker (1768-1850). She was the dau. of Col. James & Catherine Walker of Brunswick county, VA . The children of James & Wilmoth (all born in Pittsylvania County as far as I know): 1. Polly W. Williams b. 1786. 2. Susanna Williams. 3. Benjamin W. Williams. 4. Col. John Williams m. Elizabeth Wooding 11-13-1815. She was the dau. of Thomas H. Wooding. I know that a dau. of John & Elizabeth married into the Madison family in Louisiana. 5. Elizabeth W. Williams m. Wm. L. Terry in 1808. 6. Martha W. Williams m. John McAlister in 1824. 7. Samuel Carter Williams b. bef. 1807. 8. Sarah C. Williams m. Major William Leftwich 1820. 9. Thomas Terry Williams. 10. Wilmoth Motley Williams m. Thomas H. Neal. 11. Catherine Williams 1797-1876 m. Stephen Coleman Townes. 12. James Mastin Williams Jr. 1802-1864 m. Ann Elsa Motley. 13. Robert Walker Williams b. 1807. I have MUCH MUCH more on him & on the lineage of his wife Elizabeth Pocahontas Martin, dau.of Col. Joseph Martin & Sally Hughes. 14. William M. Williams 1809-1859. If interested, I have the wills of: William Williams (dated Dec. 1777). Lucy Terry Williams (dated 6-25-1788). James Mastin Williams (dated 12-1836). Wilmoth Walker Williams (dated April 1850 - but I need to get a better copy of her will to properly transcribe it) Also have the Revolutionary War Pension Applications of Joseph Terry Williams and of James Mastin Williams (both applications dated 1832). Willing to share any of the above if it would help. ~Jane

    1. [WILLIAMS] Martha Wilmouth Williams-VA-1800's
    2. I have a Martha W. Williams from Pittsylvania County VA and the "W" COULD stand for Wilmoth, her grandmother's name. My 4th greatgrandparents were William & Lucy Terry Williams of Pittsylvania County VA. Their son (my 3rd gt. grandfather) James Mastin Williams (1763-1838) married Wilmoth Walker in 1784. One of their 14 children, James Mastin Williams Jr. (1802-1864) m. Ann Elsa Motley in 1820.... One of the children of Ann Elsa Motley Williams & James Mastin Williams jr. was: "Martha W." Several children throughout this line were given the name 'Wilmoth'. My source is my 3rd gt.grandmother's will (Wilmoth Walker Williams) dated April 1850 which mentions her son James Mastin Williams Jr. and James' daughter Martha W. Williams. I have much on this lineage including info on James & Wilmoth's son John who married Elizabeth Wooding and moved to Louisiana. But that is all I have on Martha W. so far. ~Jane

    3. Hmmm, this interests me for several reasons. My line includes MANKINS who married MILLS who married WILLIAMS and RAMEY. I can tell you that many of these folks were originally Quakers who left the church willing to fight to free slaves. The migration path for these families was MD & VA > NC > KY > IN > AR > MO between the Rev War and Civil War. I do not have the people you mention in my files, but I would not be surprised to learn they were all related. If any of this "gels" with what you know, contact me! 3. I am looking for information on Elizabeth Williams. Her husband was James Jackson Reavis, they were married in Cherokee County, Georgia. She was Cherokee. If I have found her, she would have been married first to George Eaton, no Children, when she was 14 or 15 years old, which was Cherokee custom. She was born in 1826-(I think S.C.). If this is right one, her parents names were James Williams, b~1800-1820, married to Lucy Ward, b~1816. Lucy Ward's parents- James Ward, b-1785, married Sidney Redding and Lucy Haynie. James Ward's parents- Catherine McDaniel, b`1750, grand daughter of Cherokee Emperor Moy Toy, married John Ward. Does any one on the Williams list have a connections to these people ?
