1. [WILLIAMS] GRANDFATHER
2. Dear Listers, Searching for any information on Clifford P. Williams of New York. He was my grandfather on my mother's side. I know nothing about him except for his approximate birthdate of 1897. He was married to my grandmother, and they had a child {my mother} who was born in 1929 in the Bronx. He deserted his wife and child, which is why I know nothing about him -- but I would dearly love to start searching. Thank you, Catherine

1. [WILLIAMS] Joseph and Joanne WILLIAMS in Missouri
2. Rev. Michael Davis
3. I am still hoping to find information on my great grandparents, who were Joseph and Josie or Johanna (WALLS) WILLIAMS they lived in Missouri beginning as early as 1876 in the area that is today Miller Cole Counties. Here is a list of their eleven children including my grandmother. I have also included a bit of the information I have on each individual that was passed to me in the form of "family history" several years ago. Randall David WILLIAMS born June 16, 1876 Miller County County. Family lore says that in adulthood he moved to the Saint Louis area where he worked on the river, but have little information on him. My records do say he married Maud HENDERSON and that they had two children. Edith, who died in her teens and Clarence. My records show Randall died in 1939, but no further information. Robert Monroe WILLIAMS born Auguest 20, 1881 at Ironton, Missouri. Married Elizabeth FIELDS on November 18, 1915 in Wymore, Nebraska. Died August 8, 1958 Fort Bragg, California. Henry WILLIAMS born August 16, 1885. He died in 1960 and is buried in Lyndsburg, Kansas. Jane Barbara (WILLIAMS) born November 1, 1886. Married Ernest Albert SIMHIESER. She died in 1950. Note: E. SIMHEISER is listed as the informant on great grandfahter Jospeh's WILLIAMS' death certificate in 1923 and his address is shown as Eugene. Dolly Mae (WILLIAMS) born March 22, 1889 in Miller County, Missouri. Married William FELTROPE (born August 10, 1884) on March 21, 1910. Dolly died in 1972. Thomas Barney WILLIAMS born May 31, 1891 at Eugene, Missouri. Married Dolly Helen Chown (born March 25, 1897) on April 16, 1915 at Pawnee City, Nebraska. Tom died on August 31, 1968 Lexington WILLIAMS born September 1892. Died in 1967. First wife was Maggie M. O'ROURKE (born 1900, she died in 1946) Second wife was Lorretta (born 1892, died in 1962) My records show they are both burried at Eugene, Missouri. John WILLIAMS born April 5, 1895 at Eugene, Missouri. He died at the age of 21 when run over by a train in 1915. I have always wondered if I could find a newspaper account of his death. Emma Lou WILLIAMS. My maternal grandmother. born December 31, 1898 at Eugene. Died June 3, 1982 at Longmont, Colorado, buried in Nebraska City, NE First marriage to Charlie COE after his death she married Bryan T. COE ( yes they were brothers) Bryan is my maternal grandfather. Grandma gave birth to a total of ten children, eight lived to adulthood. Minnie Mary WILLIAMS born May 22, 1900. Married Alexander KEMBEL (Born June 27, 1894) on September 27, 1919 at Broken Bow, NE He died August 11, 1967. Her second marriage to Sidney BROWN in 1971 ended in divorce. I do not have a death date for Minnie, but believe she is burried in Canada. She has a daughter that lives in Sask.. Ada Belle WILLIAMS born March 3, 1902. Married Archie MORROW, who had two sons from a previous marriage. It is believed she and Archie had five children. No death or burial information. I am sure this is more information than many were probably interested in, but I now I have it written and will post it to a few bulletin boards in hopes someone can help me locate more information on these persons. I am especially tryng to locate newpaper obits for the parents of these above mentioned. Joseph WILLIAMS who died June 23, 1923 and is buried in Gageville Cemetery in Miller County, Missouri. My research shows he was born in Ripley County, Indiana in 1842 to Henry and Barbara (CLAPP) WILLIAMS. Josie or Johanna (WALLS) WILLIAMS. Her birth and death information is unertain, but am quite sure she was born in the area of Miler/Cole Counties in Missouri and is also burried in Gageville Cemetery. Thanks for reading all this. Let me know if any of it all clicks or if you want more information that I may or may not have. Sincerely, Michael Davis mjdavis@inebraska.com ______________________________

1. [WILLIAMS] 1880 Census online
2. You MUST have heard the news by now. The 1880 census of the United States is online at www.familysearch.org Use this census for all it is worth!! Look on the left side of the screen of the website. Please be aware that there have been spelling errors and other errors by transcribers as well as by the original census-taker. You MAY be able to use wild cards--anyway, try. (I was looking for a German family headed by Henze. The census-taker or the transcriber spelled it Hensi. Made a difference!) All of you Williams searchers should use this census to try to find your ancestors who were alive in 1880. (Yes, even Williams is misspelled.) The great thing about 1880 census is that each enumerated person was asked where his parents were born. My Williams, born in KY in 1818, who was in living in coastal area of Texas in 1880, stated, the year before he died, that his father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Kentucky. This indicated that the marriage had probably taken place in KY. It further indicated to me that the two Williams families I was researching in a particular county in Kentucky could be differentiated. One had Virginia roots and another had North Carolina roots. This made a BIG difference in my research efforts. By the way, when you are on the www.familysearch.org website, look for a tab indicating Forms, and another for Research Guides. You can download the PDF forms if you have Adobe (which is downloadable from the website). Explore that website for all its worth. Just take with a grain of salt what you find in some of the databases, which are NOT well documented. One of my Harris ancestors was still making babies when he was 90--and I believe he had long been dead!!! He did have 19 kids, but at age 90!!! No way!! 1. [WILLIAMS] St. Tammany Parish, LA Williams family
2. George Stuart
3. The marriage of William M. Vinzant, of Smith County, Mississippi to Miss Mary Ann Williams of St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana is recorded in Vol. 1, page 161, number 595; Marriage Book of St. Tammany Parish, LA dated 17 August 1845. A "Lyman" (?) Briggs is the parish judge and evidently performed the ceremony. The only witness name I could decipher was "Philup Magee". I would like any information on the above mentioned persons, the St. Tammany area of that time, any Williams families that were there or near there in 1845, the likely location of Judge Briggs' court, etc. I am particularly interested in Mary Ann Williams' family. My family story goes that Bill Vinzant was a livestock trader from Smith County (MS) that traveled extensively & regularly between East Texas - New Orleans - Smith Co., MS. On one of his trips (age 34 & never married) he stopped for the night at a St. Tammany home and as was the custom of the time was invited to stay for supper, share news, and sleep for the night. Receiving instructions to stable his horse he found a "pretty girl" milking a cow. Being a gentleman he waited and accompanied her back to the house. His one night turned into three. His brothers back in Smith County were amazed at his lathered horse & herd when he returned to his Smith County home as he usually took exceptional care of his stock. He immediately saddled a fresh horse for himself, another two with side saddles and returned to St. Tammany. The next time his brothers saw him he was bringing home his young (17) bride and her servant girl. The story has always been that Mary Ann never saw her family again. I would like to re-establish contact if possible and learn about them and their lives. George Stuart Smith Co., MS

1. [WILLIAMS] Sheppard Williams
2. Dear Caroline Williams, I tried a www.google.com search and found a promising document on this link members.aol.com/ScottWilds/dbi2.html This was on about the 3rd or 4th page of hits. It seemingly has to do with a deed book of some South Carolina county, not readily identifiable. One Sheppard Williams is a witness. He may not be yours, but he may be a nephew, an uncle, a cousin. All of us who do early American research have this hurdle to jump. (Try searching for John Williams in pre-Revolutionary Virginia!) It does mention Chesterfield Co., SC, and a DuBose, a common name in Sumter Co., SC (also known as Claremont and probably earlier Clarendon Co.) Try a google search yourself for Sheppard Williams. Lots of South Carolinians went to Georgia when the Native Americans "ceded" their land. EW Wallace
