    1. Williams' Shooting in IN or IL, 1920-1930
    2. Myra Best Christeck
    3. I am searching for information on Frederick Williams, b. 1880, in Roodhouse, Greene, IL. He married Minnie Downey in 1900 in Danville, Vermilion, IL. He is found living in Pike County, Washington, Township on the 1920 Census with his wife and the following children: Sarah Minetta, b. 1902, Alton, Madison, IL Edwin Williams, b. 1906, unknown Lester Milton Williams, b. 1910, IL Edith Florence Williams, b. 1915, IL Frederick Clifford, b. 1917, Knox County, IN Robert Williams Vera Williams John Eugene Williams The family lore has it that Frederick was shot to death, although I can find no documentation in either state for the shooting or the death. I had to have happened between 1920 and 1930. In the 1930 census, all of the children except two were found back in Madison County, IL, living with older siblings or other relatives. Has anyone on this Williams list run across this or a similar incident? I’d be grateful for any information or guidance in searching. Please post or e-mail me at [email protected]

    1. I found your Aunt Mary in Davidson Co., NC
    2. Lee Anders
    3. Good morning, Everyone! I am new to the list, having just found out the (possible) maiden name(s) of my maternal gg-grandmother, Mary, and wouldn't you know the lady with the common given name has a common maiden name, as well. Talk about a challenge! Something tells me I'll be banging my head against a wall quite often. So, what do I know about Mary? Well, I know she was born about 1815 in NC, and that she died on 19 January 1878 in Davidson County, NC. I know too she was the wife of Eli TURNER, and the couple had 5 known children, William Lee (1840), Mary Jane (1842), John Spencer (1847), Ann M. E. (1850) and Martha S. "Patsy" (1857), all born in Davidson Co., NC. According to John Spencer's death record, Mary's maiden name was Williams. According to her daughter Martha's, it was Williamson and she was born in Moore Co., NC. For those who don't know, Moore is a burned county, challenge #2. So far, I have had no luck in finding a marriage record for Mary, but Eli was born and raised in the area of Davidson Co. that was in Rowan up until just after his birth, and my thinking is they married someplace around there, but there is no bond to prove this, and no church record, yet I am unrealistically hopeful about the latter. And, now that you know what I know, here is what I'd like to know: Who are Mary's parents? Where was Mary born? When did Mary marry Eli? And any clues, advice or, ya know, whatever, is appreciated! Have a great day! :-) Sincerely, Lee Anders -- Cemetery Photography & Research http://www.timelesstombstones.com Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness Pass the favor on: http://www.raogk.org The Family History of Bob & Lee Anders Temporarily offline. 1. Elizabeth Ann Gill WILLIAMS (nee BOLT) 1864-1911
    2. sbolt
    3. Hello, Listers, I have just joined this List and am hoping one (or more!) of you can help me break down one of my toughest brickwalls, namely what happened to my grandfather's eldest sister. Elizabeth Ann Gill Bolt was born in Exeter, Devon, England, on 16 May 1864. According to an entry in a Bolt family Bible in my possession, she died as Elizabeth Ann Gill Williams on 1 June 1911. She is with the rest of the Bolt family in Highbridge, Somerset, at the time of the 1871 census, and she may be the Elizabeth Bolt who was the servant of Francis Sivain at Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, at the time of the 1881 census, but other than that I know nothing about her. I am assuming she married a Williams, and didn't just change her name for some reason. However, I have checked the UK marriage indexes for a Bolt/Williams union without success. Although I have her date of death, I have no idea where she died. There are too many Elizabeth Williams listed for the relevant part of 1911 in the death indexes for me to be able to get a death certificate. The lack of a marriage entry leads me to think she might have emigrated and married somewhere other than in the UK. Can anyone please help? Do you have an Elizabeth Ann (with or without the Gill) in your tree and think she might be mine? If so, do you have a marriage date, name of husband, details of children, and place of death for her? I look forward to hearing some good news from someone! Best wishes, Sara Bolt Southampton, UK
